Don Vargas Taqueria — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Island. At this point I'm looking for authentic Mexican restaurants that offer quality over quantity. I must say, I came across this taqueria and oh man I wasn't disappointed. Many restaurants need to compensate for taste with "more" food. I ordered their street tacos (rib-eye, shrimp, and Birria) and wow, you can taste the fresh ingredients and they were flavorful. I think I just found my new favorite taco spot. Not to mention the vibe at the restaurant was great and the service top notch. When I saw tacos al pastor on the menu, I had to try it, and I’m so glad I did! Don Vargas made this California kid very happy indeed. These are the most authentic street tacos I’ve had in New York, period. Perfectly seasoned, juicy pork and the best tortillas I’ve had in awhile. Don’t let the size fool you, they deliver on the meat portion and the flavor. Even the homemade salsas are awesome. Bonus, the owner came out and greeted me and made sure all was good.

We are definitely returning customers because their food is so tasty and seasoned well! Tacos are impeccable. Quesadillas are so taste. Their chicken is a game changer, it’s moist and so seasoned.
