I have been patronizing this establishment in Rockville Center in Long Island for a very long time, my circle of friends always celebrate their Birthday Parties here or special occasions or if any of our friends are performing at this location. I decided to book reservations way in advance for my husband 70th Birthday party, he truly love the ambiance of this place. I don't think that anyone love seafood more than the Bodyguard. I booked for 20 guests in the beginning. I then added 10 more guests Red Crab management confirmed my reservation. I spoke to management the day before and the day off which is June 2nd. I arrived to the location and I was surprised that the area that I had chosen was occupied with other guests. I got an instant headache I asked for the manager and I was told that they couldn't accommodate me because of the size of the guest. No worries did Red Crab management informed me or consent with me in advance I drove 1 hour and 20 minutes to be disappointed Red Crab moved my party to a corner area not suited for people of age, getting up would be an issue for some, based on medical situations few friends recently had surgery, our friend band played here. Our backs was turned to the band the band members backs was also turned to us. This was a very unfortunate unacceptable unprofessional unwarranted decisions that was bestowed on me as a valuable customer my plans to make my husband happy and make unforgettable memories for his milestone 70th birthday...Red Crab ill decision and unprofessional practices was unbecoming.! I texted my children and some guests and told them not to come I couldn't take the embarrassment. The production host Roxanne Steele told me that the management and general management is responsible for this wrong doing that she mind her business oh well I wouldn't support Red Crab again. Just the thoughts of being mistreated is horrible. Someone should take responsibility for this mess. It’s so unfortunate that I have to write this, my husband is well loved and appreciated for all that he has contributed to Long Island,! We had Doctors in the house so on.
However let me express myself that the server was extremely professional, beautiful and kind. Her warmth and her beautiful smile held me together I gave her a wonderful tip...thank you so kindly...
Read moreWe’ve been visiting Red Crab for years & have had decent service both at a booth & at the bar. We also ALWAYS add gratuity. Firstly, it’s rude as hell to ask for a tip at all. Also, it’s worse to hear after already having delivered poor customer service with a poor attitude. It’s not as though we are difficult patrons or rude ourselves, so a STANK attitude is not necessary in a place where it’s your job to be personable. For whatever reason, your bartender, the young lady with the lips discolored black in color from excessive smoke ingestion, something like the musician Ab-Soul; paired with the large unflattering lashes & the feed-ins in need of a retouch to the scalp that accentuated her impressive forehead— she felt like after not only failing to acknowledge us, doing the back-breaking work of pouring a couple fountain drinks, forgetting to give us straws, and speaking aggressively & loudly to us upon checking us out, & slamming her hand on the bar top to get our attention, that she was owed a tip. Unfortunately, with that attitude, you’re not. Even still, when our party caved & gave her a $5 (which, again, she did not deserve) she scowled, held that $5 with two fingers & complained with disgust that it wasn’t enough. Personally, we all work hard for our money, but she barely even glanced in our direction in the short time we spent at this establishment, and only chose to give us some attention when she felt entitled to more than $5. Now I could’ve taken my little $5 back from her for all the theatrics & attempt at embarrassing us in front of the other patrons when she, again, did not deserve the small bill. Still, I understand that maybe that little $5 was probably needed for bus fare back to the little hole in which she crawled out of, or maybe for a touch up on the feed-ins. Maybe even some brand new beauty supply store lashes! So we’ll let that rock. Red Crab please get your stank bar staff together & remind them that manners & a decent customer service will take you farther with the people choosing to spend their money with you. There’s a few reasons why the spot around the corner that came after you is surpassing...
Read moreI'll start off by saying the food was decent, but I don't think it was good enough to overlook the bad service, dirty bathrooms and lack of social distancing. We got to the restaurant and was told to wait 45 minutes for a table, no problem it's a Saturday during the dinner rush. We put our name and numbers on the list and figured we'd go to the bar for a couple of drinks while we wait. There were literally people touching elbows, the place was packed. I'm not a germ freak but I'm not trying to be in large crowds with strangers. There were zero COVID measurements put in place at the back bar. So we go across the street while we wait.
We get the notification that our table is ready and we're at the door in two minutes. The front door was filled with people waiting (no social distancing). Finally they get to us, and we're told we have to wait an extra 15 minutes because we didn't answer the text. I showed them my reply and told them we were there within 2 minutes of the notification but no one was at the door to seat us. So we didn't have to wait again. Once we're seated several servers and a guy in a suite (the manager I guess) pass us a bunch of times. I see that they're busy so I don't say anything. But across from me, a table sat down 10 to 15 minutes after I sat down and they start ordering drinks. I start asking around for someone to get our server. No one knows who our server is, and no one seemed to be in a rush to figure it out. The table who sat across from us got their appetizers before we were able to order anything. Once a server got to us, they were nice but we waited close to 30 minutes to order anything.
The bathroom trash was overflowing. It didn't look like anyone walked through or checked to see it was clean. I understand clubs and bars having nasty bathrooms, but this is a restaurant. Also the music was really good old school hip hop and rnb, but it was too loud for the dining area. I get the music being loud in the bar area, but if you're sitting at the restaurant you almost have to yell to talk to the person...
