I recently had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at Golden Reef Diner, and it was a delightful experience. This popular establishment offers a wide variety of breakfast and brunch options that are sure to satisfy any craving.
One of the highlights of our visit was trying the different omelets and pancakes on the menu. The omelets were cooked to perfection, with fluffy eggs and a generous filling of our choice. Whether it was the classic ham and cheese or the flavorful vegetable medley, each omelet was packed with savory goodness.
The pancakes at Golden Reef Diner were a true treat. They were light, fluffy, and had a delicious melt-in-your-mouth texture. The menu offered a variety of flavors and toppings, from traditional buttermilk pancakes to mouthwatering blueberry or chocolate chip options. The pancakes were served with a side of warm syrup, adding the perfect touch of sweetness to each bite.
The ambiance at Golden Reef Diner was welcoming and cozy, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a relaxed brunch. The staff members were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
In addition to the scrumptious food, the portion sizes at Golden Reef Diner were generous, leaving us fully satisfied. The prices were also reasonable, considering the quality and quantity of the dishes served.

Read moreAwful experience - I placed a pick up order over the phone with the wife of the owner and showed up 20min later to pick up my food. When I arrived, the owner was at the front desk so I told him my name and unfortunately they never made my food. I understand that these things happen - but my issue is with the grumpy, old fashion owner who was unable to answer the question "is my order ready" and he kept saying to me "wait over there, it will be out in 2 mins". Well, eventually I caught on that my food was never prepared and had been waiting for 15 minutes for my order.
The issue was not with the food - the issue was with the way they handled their mistake. Instead of the owner saying "sir, we did not get the order. We will re-make it, can you give us 10 minutes?" he kept telling me to wait in the corner and each time I asked him where my pick up order was he said "2 minutes, 2 minutes". After waiting in the restaurant for 25 minutes for my pick up order, he hands me a bag and charged me full price. I've worked in restaurants, the least he could have done was taken off a $5 soup or apologize or even acknowledge that they made a mistake. But the old mans ego was so big and stuck in 1952 that he couldn't admit their fault. I told him to do the right thing, or keep the food and give it to the employees. He can use it as a learning lesson to treat people with respect and not push me to the side. I left the food for the staff to eat - never will I give my money to someone like man. I feel bad for the people that...
Read moreThe waitstaff was excellent. (The reason I didn't give it one star) The diner not the way I remembered it. This was our first time back at this diner in about 5 years (other diners in our neighborhood). We invited some friends to join us. The first thing that should've made me decide to leave before our friends arrived was the burnt store bought challah bread. Maybe it was always store bought but this was not how I remembered it. I used to look forward to it it was always fresh buttery and we were able to pull it apart. This was cut up burnt bread that we had to butter ourselves. I took a piece of the top to try. I told the nice waitress to take it back (because i was embarrassed already). The 2nd thing is that this establishment is in need of a serious refurbishment. The carpeting was dingy, torn and tattered and the restaurant smelled as if it still had a smoking section (probably embedded in the rug). To top it all of my friends order came out wrong and the manager told her if she was on a diet just close her eyes and eat it in a nutshell. Will we be inviting others back? Not likely with all of the restaurants available on the south shore. It's just sad that I have to write this review because we have great memories of eating here with our family and when our children were really young. My daughter did not want to order anything...
