Viaggio Italian Chop House — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I went to Viaggo on 9/27/2024 to meet up with some friends for some drinks. When I arrived, my friends were finishing up with their dinner, and my husband and I decided to go to the bar to get a drink. There was only one bartender doing the drinks (Latina with short black hair). She basically was doing everything, from the drinks, taking the plates to the kitchen, and bringing food to the bar. So, my husband and I are waiting for her to ask us what we want to drink. She makes no eye contact, ignores us, and she had an attitude. 15 minutes pass by my husband asks her that we would like to order drinks. I’m already frustrated, and I told her my drink. I had to wait another 10 minutes for my drink. I took my drink and went to the dining area with our friends to watch the live entertainment.

Later in the evening we all went to the bar, and my girlfriend went to order us drinks. She received the same treatment as I did, and she walked away. We told our friend what was going on, and he went to order drinks. The bartender told him to order his drinks from the waitress. I was mortified and flabbergasted when he told us what she said to him. The bartender ended up making the drinks that he ordered.

If I can give Viaggo zero stars I would, because I have never experienced such horrible service in my life. I’m there paying for a service, and for the bartender to behave in such an unprofessional rude manner is unacceptable. If the bartender felt overwhelmed, then she should have asked the bus boys for some help behind the bar. That will be my first and last time going to Viaggio. I usually go out with a group of 20+ friends, and I’m glad that they did not come on Friday. I will tell them to all stay far away. I would give Viaggio's 3.5 stars if I could, with their food being rated the least.

Appetizers were truffle lobster mac and a grilled zucchini pizza with cauliflower crust. The lobster mac was good, perfect quantity of truffle (not overpowering) but nothing out of the normal, except for the lack of lobster (there were two chunks of meat in the whole dish). The zucchini pizza should have been called spinach pizza. There was only one wedge of zucchini on each slice, coupled with about five pounds of steamed spinach. I will say that the goat cheese on the pizza was incredible.

Main dishes were salmon and Mixed Grill Trio. The salmon was good, again, nothing out of the normal, except that it was also served on top of five pounds of sauteed spinach that was lacking garlic.

The Mixed Grill Trio was a skirt steak, lamb chops, and Italian sausage. Average again, the steak and lamb chops were cooked perfectly but lacked salt. The Italian sausage was delicious, it was one link cut in half, I wish it came with two. Again, that meal was served with sauteed spinach that the steak was plated on top of. I personally don't think grilled meat should be served with a vegetable or sauce touching it but I easily scraped off the spinach.

Overall the service was good, besides the lack of tableside bread when we sat down. The atmosphere is nice. It's a bit farmhouse with a rustic...

Worst service I have ever encountered. We came with a bunch of people and none of them will ever return. We waited and had to remind the staff hours after half our party never received their sub par food. The meat and cheese board which was ordered as an app came when we finished our meal. It was clearly sitting out because it was warm and sweating. The manager could careless and seemed annoyed that I was upset we were not getting our food or drinks. The place was far from busy... all I kept seeing was the managers and chefs having a drink or on their phones. Let's also mention the SCAM! There was a $200 deposit put down because of the size of our party which they never took off the bill. We had to come back have them correct and it. The manager didn't question it seemed that he knew what was done and just handed the money to a bartender and hid in the back. I have to assume that they knew they tried to get one by us by taking the deposit and not applying it to the bill like they said they would. Go to white castle you will get...
