Wow. Great food ruined by horrendous service.

Dinesh was our server tonight who was openly hostile, complaining that we ordered “one by one by one.” Sir, that would not have been a problem should you have bothered to check on us even once to see if we needed anything.

As someone with experience in the restaurant industry before, this is absolutely not acceptable. I’d understand if it was busy but there was only one other table (a party of 4) in the restaurant. The lack of attentiveness is wholly on the server. Not sure if he’s inexperienced or straight up just didn’t care.

At the beginning of the service, I asked for chai tea and he said they only provided “that” tea (that someone else had ordered). That doesn’t really tell me much but okay, we’ll try it.

My mom (who arrived last) tried to order more bread and he rudely said that I had ordered bread for the whole table. What, so she can’t add another type of bread?? I don’t understand.

He messed up our order claiming all the foods are spicy when we asked if it’s possible to get my 7-year old nephew’s food to be less spicy. Upon closer inspection, the only kid’s order was peppered with extra... pepper? Or whatever the red flakes were. That should have been an indication that was the wrong dish. I had asked for the vindaloo to be extra spicy (put in as “mild” as seen on the receipt). I’m assuming he input them incorrectly into the POS and told the kitchen to make the wrong dish spicy? Either that or he didn’t remember what dish was what because he did not mention what it was when he placed the entree in front of me.

We swapped dishes, no problem; and we would have been able to let it slide and attribute all this to him having a bad day but all the little things add up. He loudly complained to his coworkers that we kept ordering drinks “one by one by one.” Did you ever ask if we wanted another round? In fact, did you ever even ask what kind of water we wanted to begin with? Or if we’d like any other beverages? No. Take several seats please.

I was so ashamed to have our 2 birthday celebrants go through such an awful experience. 18% gratuity was already included. As someone who eats out often, I would’ve been happy to supplement that with an additional amount but in this case, it...

If you enjoy authentic Indian food and excellent hospitality, then Color of Spices in Rockville Centre needs to be on your go-to list. The decor is traditional Indian and makes you feel like you stepped into Mumbai. The aromas and foods served were excellently prepared and ample portioned. For starters, we ordered the Vegetable Samosa - "A small triangular pastry filled with spiced potatoes and peas," the Assorted Vegetable Platter - "A delicious assortment of vegetable samosa, vegetable pakora, alu ki tiki," and three baskets of Naan bread - plain, garlic, and rosemary. For our entrees, we opted for Lamb Vindaloo (for those who love heat) as Vindaloo is made with a blend of hot chilies and spices, Tandoori Shrimp (for those who do not), Chicken Tikka Masala (a crowd-pleaser) as it is made with boneless chicken supreme simmered in a creamy tomato gravy with a tasty flavor of fenugreek. The sauce is rich, creamy, and has just a touch of heat. Also, we enjoyed Vegetable Biryani -A rice dish with whole spices of cardamom, bay leaf, cloves, cumin seed, raisin, and cinnamon served with Raita - a vegetable yogurt and Gobhi Manchurian -fried cauliflower and spices. All in all, we felt like Royalty as we left wanting nothing more...

My 3 star review is mainly on the food. It's BYOB btw. The restaurant is cozy but beautiful. They have 2 large round tables in the front. I'm not sure what's beyond the wall in the main restaurant, whether it's more seating or just the back end. Our waiter was very nice, informative, and attentive. Now for the food, I love Indian food, mainly for the spice. They did make my dish spicey as per my order but yet it was bland. It just didn't have all the flavor profiles that I love. We got a cauliflower vege dish, vege samosas, assorted naan, tandoori chicken. All of these were as i described. We got Lamb Masala which was good. I ordered one to go for my husband. Unfortunately I won't...

Beautiful restaurant - the decor, the music, created a royal atmosphere. Service was fast, though I acknowledge eating here during the Super Bowl would help speed up service. Food was delicious. For those new to Indian food, I highly recommend the vegetable platter for appetizers to get the variety! Always also recommend getting the naan with the entree (this time got the garlic naan), as well as, for the entrees, chicken tikka masala (always a safe choice) and paneer saag. You will get full fast and probably leave with some leftovers!
