We came in and decided to give it a try. The first thing ordered was a patty melt. The waitress never heard of it and stated “I’m not a cook I’m a waitress”. Patty melts are a CLASSIC. Whether she knew or not, she could have been more pleasant and asked the “chef” or lack there of. We explained that it was a thin burger on rye with melted cheese and sautéed onions. The other item we ordered was a simple Greek salad Wrap with chicken. It came with fries so I asked for the popular style of feta cheese and oregano on the fries. (Deep breath).
All we heard from the kitchen area for the next few minutes was “patty melt?...patty melt?? Patty melt” (they didn’t know how to make it) Once the food came, the patty melt was non existent...it was a burger With onions and cheese that wasn’t melted. On top of that, for some reason, the edge of the bread had tiny confetti-like pieces of foil on it. As soon as I picked up my chicken wrap (wrapped in foil) the entire filling fell out. My fries were soft and a little undercooked with no oregano. I had to ask for a side of oregano to sprinkle on myself. The yogurt sauce was NOT yogurt sauce. We notified the manager about the foil and showed him. He went to the kitchen, left the burger at the table and never came back for it. So that meal was uneaten. I tried my best to enjoy my wrap. I took all of the chicken out and ate most of it without the wrap and filling. It needed seasoning.
I really wanted to like this place. I don’t enjoy giving bad reviews, however, I’m just being honest. The customer service was non-existent to say the least and our food wasn’t appetizing at all. Whoever the cook was, they’re inexperienced. I understand things happen, but this seems like the norm there. I hope they get better cooks and an actual chef to guide them. The manager/owner seems like a nice man who’s having a hard time with this place. I hope things change in a positive way. One thing that should always remain is good customer service and honesty. If they didn’t know how to make the patty melt, they should have said so and offered what they could make. They should have handled that entire situation much better. We left hungry and went...
Read moreOriginal review from 2019: Wow. My wife and I just got takeout from Golden Globe and literally threw the food in the trash. It was that horrible. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger deluxe medium rare. The burger was as black as a hockey puck and as a joke I took it off the bun and it made a clunking sound against the countertop. It was so bad it was overcooked yesterday! The bun was hard (stale) and the bacon soggy and way undercooked. The fries had to be recooked 3-4 times. They were rocks. I tried to power through a second bite of the burger but I couldn't. I'd feel terrible feeding it to my dog. I seriously cannot believe they packaged this food to be served to humans. Bring back Golden Dolphin!!
Edit after owner response 4 YEARS after my review, which restarted the clock on my original review. Check the dates- I reviewed the food AFTER the place changed hands from the owner who was falsely charged in 2018. I said bring him back. If you are saying the food is the same absolute garbage I was served 4 years ago- of course I won't come back. But even if it is new (read old) ownership, I could not imagine eating at a place with such unprofessional, delusional commenting without the slightest bit of reading...

The food? Absolutely fantastic. Every dish I’ve tried has been fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The portions are generous, the presentation is beautiful, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, everything comes out hot, delicious, and just right.
But what truly makes Golden Globe Diner special are the owners. They are some of the kindest, most down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet.
