I went here on Thanksgiving eve with a group consisting of two guys and three girls. When we finally got to the front of the line the bouncer working the door thought it was OK to sexually harass all three women we were with and make them feel so uncomfortable to the point where no one wanted to pay to get in. This was also the case with groups entering ahead of us, but I can only speak to my experience. For example, my friend handed him her ID and she was greeted with "Oh hey baby, what's your deal tonight..." along with blown kisses, winks and MULTIPLE sideways up and down looks that lasted more than a minute before he even looked down at her ID. It was not done at all in a joking manner (not that this would be funny in any circumstance) and right in the face of the me and the other guy in our group. My sister was next and got the same reaction. Finally, my fiance was subject to the same harassment. Then for some reason, my friend had a CT ID showing he was 26 y/o and the bouncer made such a huge issue with the out-of-state ID - asking ridiculous questions and almost refusing entry to him. He never offered an explanation and was not even using a scanner to check the IDs. I went inside to the manager working the cashier and I immediately told him what was going on outside. I was initially calm and not confrontational and I was greeted with the nastiest "you have no idea what you are talking about....he has 6 kids he would never do that!" I responded by saying that it does not matter at all how many kids he has and that this was the worst I have ever been treated trying to get into a bar. I was promptly thrown out before getting one...
Read moreI had the pleasure of meeting Frank, the owner of R&G on a random Monday evening fishing trip. He was super chill and invited me to give his restaurant a try the next time I was in Huntington. We ventured there last Saturday as the "men" of my sister's bridal shower. It was my first time there- and there were 5 of us all together. We were seated a very cozy but not cramped table in the back area of the dining room. The server came over right away and we were off to the races. The beer selection is good--not too many beers to choose from but enough to make 99% of beer drinkers happy. The food menu was really nicely printed-- there is a lot to chose from but the design of the menu is not cluttered. As I mentioned there were 5 of us and the noise level in the restaurant for a Saturday afternoon was a bit high considering the screaming soccer fans at the bar, the high ceilings and lots of hard surfaces for sound to bounce off of. This is not a criticism rather just something to be aware of. There is a nice outdoor seating area but it was super hot & humid that day so we opted for a table inside. The food came out of the kitchen at a great pace. We didn't feel rushed at all. The nachos with the sliced brisket were great and everything was very fresh. The burgers and the fried chicken sandwich were the clear winners, the lobster roll wasn't too shabby either. The onion rings are legit as well-- I recommend for the table as a side. I would highly recommend R&G as a spot to put on your radar the next time you are looking for a cool, low-key place in...
Read moreI’m so sorry to ruin the perfect number of reviews (it was at 420 by the time of publication) but I cannot resist the urge to rave about this place. Finally tried it after ages of following on Instagram and drooling over photos and videos of the food.
It’s rare that a place has both great food / service and is also a “vibe,” as the kids say, but this place does both!
Great drink selections — both beers and cocktails — and an unbelievably extensive food menu. And better yet, the food is incredible.
We tried the Bronx Chicken Parm and the Long Island Steak Sando — two Long Island staples, and they live up to the high standard! Excellent Brussels sprouts too.
Reasonably priced (I paid more money for less food and drink — both in quantity and quality — at a mediocre new wine bar in Long Island City just days before), friendly service, great vibe. A wonderful addition to a wonderful town.
And conveniently located next to an urgent care and across the street from a post office, should...
