Two things that made my visit today infuriating: First being that I had been waiting in line and eventually was standing in front of the counter, I was the next person to be serviced. An older woman staff with black hair and glasses behind the counter came over towards my direction, but then stopped at the couple that were BEHIND me in line. She greeted them in a way that gave me the assumption that she remembered them from previous visits, since she said “welcome back” and “do you want your regular?”. Didn’t acknowledge me at all even though I was the first customer in the line. I assume she gave her attention to the couple over me just because “she knew them”, so that was infuriating. Secondly, after getting the attention of a different staff and placing my order, a type of sundae served in a cup, I waited patently until I received it and payed for it. After leaving, I went for a scoop of my sundae only to realize that HALF of the cup was filled with whipped cream, only 2 dinky scoops of ice cream at the bottom, if that. Very poor portion size for the high price. It’s not like that staff will get a smaller paycheck just for giving me an extra scoop that would at least fill up 3/4 of the cup. Terrible experience overall, will not...
Read moreBen & Jerry's has done a great job with their non-dairy flavors, and I was so excited to see that they have them available in their scoop shops as well as in grocery store freezer aisles.
They did have the option for a non-dairy sundae, which was exciting. I don't think it was necessarily worth what it cost (more than three scoops costs, and the sundae only comes with two scoops). Additionally, I thought it was weird that they only put the chocolate sauce on top of the whipped topping. I like sauce topping ON my ice cream (and this is how most places make them).
In any event, though I wasn't necessarily over the moon with the value for the sundae, the ice cream itself was delicious. I visited twice on my last trip to Lake Placid (I got three scoops, no sundae, on the second trip) and was very happy with my decision...
Read moreOverpriced. rude employees, poor customer service and an owner that just does not care. Since Unilever bought this company years ago, it lost its magic and its quality. Sad.
Edit: This goes back a while now, but I spoke to the owner twice on the phone and he was very dismissive. My son had ordered an item that B&J's usually gives options for. His had real coffee ice cream/no option. When I asked the employee if he could get something without caffeine, she was very rude and refused to work with me at all. Unless she gave me someone else's phone number, I did speak to the owner. He just did not...
