Got takeout tonight and have never had such a negative experience in my 15 years of restaurant work or life for that matter. We got two pasta dinners that we were not satisfied with in the slightest bit. The vodka sauce tastes like they used canned tomato soup in it and all of the noodles were over cooked and mushy. As well as the linguine and meat balls being flavorless and again over cooked with the noodles to the point they were mushy. The burrata however was very well prepared and quite tasty which I made sure to let them know.. cut to calling to discuss bringing back the dishes for a refund because of the fact that these were both $37 and $29 respectively and were what seemed to be something that was barely edible let alone being worth that much. I then was told to wait and then had the girl come back to tell me I was the first person to complain about it and that I needed to take the L on it pretty much so I insisted as someone who works as management that this is not how the situation should be handled in my opinion. Then the man who cooked the food came on the phone telling me I had no ideas what I was taking about and have never eaten vodka sauce which blew my mind however I explained everything to him and he said “come in tomorrow and I’ll give you $20 that’s it” and hung up on me. I then drove there with the pastas to show him and to speak in person and he again told me I had no idea what I was talking about and kept raising his voice at me visibly mad I assume because I told him I dislike his food however I’m not sure because he just kept yelling at me telling me I had no idea what I was talking about.. and maybe I don’t (I’m only a mixologist who started his career as a prep cook and cook in an Italian restaurant so I obviously only know how to go grab the cans of steam and empty the hot water spout) but this man had the absolute worst customer service skills I have ever witnessed. It was like I hurt his manhood by telling him I did not like his food. He started shaking and trying to I think intimidate me but the only thing intimidating was his offensive breath and that would only be to his very unfortunate dentist. No one should be talked to the way he talked to me let alone as a patron of said person business. Truly disappointing and disgusting behavior and honestly very uncalled for especially since I kept stating when i originally called that it was no one’s fault and that I still wanted them to keep the tip and that the two girls I dealt with first were amazing but this small little desperate looking man seemed hell bent on me being dumb and not knowing what I am talking about. I just hope he feels better now for the night and doesn’t go home and take it out on his family because clearly this man...
Read moreWe ducked into Luna on a Monday night after a photography session in along Main Street. I was famished and the chalkboard menu on the front stoop was inviting. With a relaxed atmosphere, pleasant bistro friendliness, and a simple, but varied menu, Luna started off on the right track for a perfect finish to a magical Lake Placid day. Maybe I set the bar too high... Drinks were solid and very potent, which was a surprise, since many restaurants are in the habit of under pouring. The complimentary bread was crispy and hot, with a spectacular crust and the soup of the day, a chicken-based broth with spinach greens, took away the High Peaks chill in an instant. I had a chicken and mushroom -- a basic Marsala and mushroom gravy with a chicken cutlet and linguine. The flavour was good and the gravy was thick...a nice cover for the linguine. Across the table, the chicken caprese was less pleasing. Pounded chicken breast cutlets are an unusually easy dish. It was thus disappointing that one of the chicken breasts was raw in places. A raw bit of chicken is a dinner killer...and shouldn't happen on quarter-inch breast cutlet. It's a three minute-a-side mistake that ruins your stomach for anything else. While staff seemed initially to dismiss the under cooked poultry, they none-the-less apologized. Service was painstakingly slow -- especially post complaint. Will I give Luna another shot? It's likely on the list for a return visit, because I believe in the potential and even the best places have...
Read moreI wish I could give like 3.8 stars because the food wasn't bad but it did not live up to my expectations.
Review summary: Did a to go order of fettuccine Alfredo (3/5), tortellini carbonara (4/5), and chicken and mushrooms (5/5). Probably wouldn't go back again except for the chicken and mushrooms which was delicious.
I just visited the area this past weekend, and my family and I are still wary of going out and eating at a restaurant. We decided instead to take the food back to our hotel room. I ordered the tortellini carbonara (pictured), my sister the fettuccine Alfredo, and my mother the chicken and mushrooms. By far, the chicken and mushrooms was the best dish and I really despise mushrooms. The sauce just had such an amazing, decadent flavor. It was creamy and hit all the right notes. My tortellini carbonara was good, the meat was quite delicious, but it wasn't a carbonara. It was a cream sauce that I believe is the same as the Alfredo. With that being said DO NOT GET THE ALFREDO. It was flavorless and thankfully we ordered the chicken with it which helped add another flavor, but it was just cream. It desperately needed more cheese, more salt, even just some parsley would've freshened it up a bit. It was a waste of money. In total, we spent $75 with tax. It was good quality in terms of the ingredients, but it just didn't come together as I...
