I rented a 2-bedroom apartment at Lake Placid Inn Main Street for a long weekend. I stayed with half my family while my son was participating in a Can/Am Hockey tournament and stayed at the Boutique Hotel down the street with my husband and the team. Overall, we had a great stay and I would recommend the Lake Placid Inn Main Street. Some specifics: The Good: This is a perfect location, right across the street from the Olympic Center, behind Subway and close to several small bars/restaurants- Origins Coffee and The Boat were two of our favorites. I rented skis at Cunninghams, which is across the parking lot and very convenient. We skiied at Whiteface, which was an easy 15 minute drive. The kitchen was why I rented here, because my son and husband had to be on the expensive Can/Am meal plan and I wanted no part of that for the rest of us. The dishwasher was a huge plus. There was plenty of closet space, the bathroom was large and the shower/hot water were perfect on the freezing days we had up there. Plenty of linens were provided and the apartment was clean. Suggestions: It is stated in the rental agreement, but check- in is at the sister property down the street. There is no front desk or anyone to talk to at this actual location. This needs to be in huge print somewhere when you book the place- we had things out of the car and bags in hand and had to load it all back in to drive down the street and check in/get the key.
The kitchen could use some more items. Technically this rental sleeps six, and I was only there with one adult and two older children. I went through the plates and utensils pretty fast. There are no oven mitts or baking pans, and one very small cutting board that really isn't large enough for much of anything. There needs to be a larger garbage can for kitchen trash. As other reviewers have said, hooks near the door for coats, an absorbent floor mat (or any floor mat) for salt and snow, and a table, bench or something near the entry to put down keys, etc... would be very helpful. It was a little noisy at night but it had snowed and we were very impressed at how well the sidewalks and streets were clear early in the morning. Overall, great location and I would definitely recommend...

The check in was easy, quick and very friendly. Front desk and house keeping was very accommodating with needs and assistance.
Apartment 206 was wonderful overlooking the Olympic center. Spacious for a family of 8. We would definetly stay here again.
But I do have some recommendations to better accommodate the guest and better maintain the cleanliness and current condition of the apartment:
A dresser in the living room is necessary for the guest sleeping on the sofa bed, An extra bed side table would be very helpful in the primary bedroom, An extra closet in the secondary bedroom would be helpful for stays longer than a long weekend and for the additional guest in the living room area, Ice maker in the unit would be much appreciated, Hooks in the hallway for coats, A bench in the entrance to facilitate the boot removal and prevent the salt and water from spreading down the hallway, A carpet at the entrance to avoid the wet trail down the hall.
I hope you find this helpful and constructive recommendations. With that said we loved it and found it very welcoming. We enjoyed our Christmas getaway in this lovely apartment very much and plan to visit again in the...
Read moreThis hotel was perfect for our 4 day stay in Lake Placid. This was my first vacation with my 19 month old and I needed a separate bedroom so I could put her to bed with as little disruption as possible. It worked out great- we just had to darken the windows with a blanket because the curtains let a lot of light in. The space was clean and bright and it was great to have a full size fridge. The bathroom had a really pretty barn door which was impractical for a toddler- way too easy to open, but we made it work. ||The location was spectacular as we could easily walk to the lake, dinner or shopping on Main Street, and had the convenience of parking on site. ||We didn’t realize it was essentially an annex from the main hotel a block back, but once we figured that out everything was great. There is no house keeping-So you do have to go down to get linens/toilet paper but it’s super close. The staff at the desk were very pleasant and responsive and made great...
