If I could give zero stars I would. By far the worst restaurant experience of my life. The only good thing about this restaurant was the bread. Our server was almost non existent. The owner/chef was so rude! He came out attacking us and talking to us like children who don't know anything about steak. It started off with them bringing me the completely wrong steak. I ordered a medium/rare and it was so well done. Then I got the new steak and this steak was ALL OVER the place with temp. Some was well done, some was okay and then other parts were completely raw. I'm sorry but I'm not going to chow on 1/4 of my $32 dollar steak and then send it back to get it cooked right the rest of the way (and I deff am not eating the well done parts of the steak). The owner didn't want to listen to our concerns at all. At one point my husband had to raise his voice because the owner wouldn't let me explain what happened. He obviously took offense to our criticism and would not accept anything other than his view of the situation. It got to the point where he wouldn't stop raising his voice at us and wouldn't leave us alone that I had to tell him to stop harassing us! His behavior was uncalled for and I was shaking because I was so uncomfortable. Then after I called him out for harassment and said I would make sure I left a review on his restaurant he decided to take the steak off the bill and told us if we ever came back he would cook my steak personally.....let's just say that's never going to happen. For the price of the food and the awful customer service, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Ohhhh and then to top it all off, the people next to us heard us tell the server that my steak was not good and so they asked us what we got and of course we told them and the owner thought it was okay to tell us we couldn't talk to other customers!!! What the heck. Mind blown by this whole situation. And my husbands ribeye was bland as well,...
Read moreHORRIBLE! This place was one of the most poorly run businesses I had ever encountered. The food was overpriced, the service was terrible and waited for over an hour to get dinner. They were really busy so I understand the wait but the disorganization was terrible. For a place that has been around for a while, they should have a better system (or any system for that fact) in place to handle busy times. The owner himself was extremely rude. After ordering, we waited over an hour to get our food, while others that came in after us were being served. The waitress was MIA so we called the man that had seated us over to our table to check on our order (he happened to be the owner). He went to check and came back with our meal. My husband's food was cold so he told the owner who then proceeded to say (over and over again) that the plate itself was hot. We kept trying to explain that the food was cold, regardless of the plate being hot but he would NOT listen and immediately became defensive and irate. He then resorted to screaming and saying rude things to us all while we were trying to explain that it was just the FOOD was COLD! In an effort to remove himself from this escalating situation, my husband excused himself and said he would meet us outside after we finished our dinner. The owner FOLLOWED him (yelling "but you are still paying for this!") and then PUSHED him as my husband was walking out the restaurant. LITERALLY PUSHED HIM. This all happened in front of my elderly father, my 3 year old nephew, & my 2 children. DISGUSTING behavior! My kids were starving so I let them eat (since we had already waited over 2 hours to sit and get our food) but I was mortified. I am shocked this establishment is still open! Lake Placid has so many other great options that it was not worth...
Read moreI'm not even sure our visit was deserving of 1 star. I have been traveling to Lake Placid since I was a child and have never had a bad meal in this town. This is probably because I always go to the same two places. My husband and I were in town on our last night of vacation and decided to try someplace new. Big mistake. Dinner time and the dining room was basically empty which should have been a red flag. Don't be deceived by the diverse and tempting menu. I ordered the Cedar Salmon which was cooked well but tasted like they dumped old bay seasoning all over it. It came with a baked potato that was sad even for a baked potato. They gave me a plastic container of sour cream and 2 plastic things of butter which were rock hard.. basically frozen and didnt melt when I put them on the potato. The salmon was served with hollandaise sauce which came out cold and lumpy. This was great compared to my husband's meal. The orange veal was soggy and the sauce was watery and flavorless. It was served with a pile of plain penne pasta. We were both so disappointed. My husband barely touched his meal and the server didn't come back once to check to see if we were doing okay. When he cleared our plates he didn't question the barely touched plates and he didn't bother to offer dessert. Perhaps he knows how terrible the food is already. Aside from the food the decor in the place is terrible. We left there feeling like we were robbed of our nice meal we'd planned on having and spent way too much money on food that got tossed in the trash. The place actually made me feel depressed. If you want a nice steak or seafood dinner do what we should have done and go down the street to Adirondack Steak and Seafood. The service there is friendly and attentive and the food and atmosphere...
