Colbeh Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

As I write this review, I am unsure what is more full...my stomach or my heart! Several weeks ago, I attended an event in the Great Neck restaurant: an engagement celebration that took place in the beautiful, private back room. It was beyond phenomenal!!! The food was delicious...I could not believe the variety and quantity! The service was extraordinary! This week, I was planning a dinner for approximately 25 people. I recalled how wonderful the Colbeh experience was, so I reached out to the catering manager to inquire about pricing and menu options for my offsite event Within minutes of sending my email, I received a phone call back. And within minutes of finishing that phone call, I received a customized menu with pricing. I was concerned about contracting with Colbeh, as the event was important AND it would be my first time catering from Colbeh. For decades, I have used other caterers in NYC, but I was eager to have my guests experience the same culinary delight that I enjoyed weeks prior, so I booked Colbeh...AND IT WAS A GREAT DECISION! The food arrived hot...the guests could not stop talking about how delicious everything tasted...AND THERE WAS SOOOOO MUCH FOOD!!!!!!!! I have soooooo much leftover! I could have another party : ) The catering manager and ALL of his colleagues were extremely gracious. In fact, the gentleman who delivered the food went above and beyond any possible expectation...he helped set up our chafing dishes and display all of the food! He even gave a bracha! There were additional items in the order that we did not order...they were sent as special treats for us to try! I spoke with the catering manager today to thank him. He is a person of his word...because before I booked Colbeh, he assured me that I would be thrilled with my decision to choose Colbeh...and he was correct! I enthusiastically urge you to choose Colbeh for your next meal and/or your next lifecycle event. I am confident that you will write a similar review! Last night we held an intimate Jewish Day School event with over 100 people, in the private room at Colbeh in Great Neck. It was an incredible event thanks to Colbeh and the team. I highly recommend the beautiful event space if you need a sophisticated venue with great food for a special occasion. Pejman and Benjamin were truly a pleasure to work. They, along with the entire staff, were responsive, caring, thoughtful, friendly, warm, honest, and extremely helpful from the beginning planning stages, interim planning, setup, as well as throughout the whole evening. The food was plentiful, high-quality, and delicious. There was tender meat, salmon, lots of vegetarian options, rice dishes, all types of salads, tasty desserts, drinks....I can go on and on. It was a true feast. The bartender was great as well. The room was set up perfectly and was elegant. The team at Colbeh is experienced and smoothly gets it all done well. Disappointing experience. Ordered through sauce and left instructions for order to be picked up with another order. Driver asked for both orders and showed both names but was only given one order and was told both were inside (spoilers: only one order was inside). Called the restaurant and was told that the driver didn’t speak english, but also that he didn't ask for both orders. Manager then lied and claimed that they tried to call me (when challenged they backpedaled and said they tried to call uber which I never ordered through). Had to pay for a second courier. More disappointing than the mediocre food was the casual racism and the lies. Could have been an easy “sorry we missed the written instructions, we should staple receipts to the bag so drivers can guarantee they have the right order, we will take care of you if you can trust us again” but instead the employees choose to deflect blame and lie souring what could have been a great 200$+ birthday dinner...
