I used to work at this place in the earliest 90’s, Rosario, the owner had it just opened I guess. He and his brother Pete were both on charge and causing sensation with their unique and different way of making Italian food. They hire me as a dishwasher and eventually when one of the cooks took vacation they start to train me at everything in the kitchen, that’s how I become a cook in Francesca’s. I’m always thankful to both of them for what I learn there, even when my laboral path took a different direction, I know till this day how to cook delicious Italian food! It was a great experience to work for them, I was only 20 years old, just arrived from my country and my firsts job here in the USA. So many stories during my almost two years working there, one day Rosario brought his wife to the restaurant when she was pregnant of his now son Sal, and then brought his newborn son so we all at the store could meet him. It’s just amazing how time fly’s and seeing his son as an adult working to Rosario’s side producing great quality Italian food. I can say that this is one of the best places to eat Italian food, their unique variety of flavors make them the best in Great Neck, Long Island. Cordiali saluti a Rosario e Sal da qualcuno che...
Read moreYou would think in New York there would be plenty of Italian pizza places, real authentic Italian, but as I found out there really is only one in the queens area that gives you that old school Italian feel with amazing food. Francescas treated us like family the moment we walked in and on our first visit even threw in an extra garlic knot, the pizza is good pizza, the other dishes sound amazing but I haven't had the chance to really sit and enjoy them yet, amd the garlic knots are amazing, crispy yet not flakey on the outside with a soft and smooth center, and just enough butter to taste but not to soak your hands in. If you're in the area or struggling to find a worthy pizza place to call or go in, go to Francescas. The pizza joint ran with love and care from the kitchen to...
