Family birthday celebration (6 of us). Made reservations; thought we’d be overlooking river but ended up sitting under a tent with gravel floor. As dusk came, cars with blaring headlights drive pass you one by one.....nothing like car fumes for dinner. Hilarious though, one car with kayak drives thru and nearly takes the tent down. You can’t make this stuff up.
Drinks - where should I start. Ordered coffee - machine broke this morning so not available. Ordered a Heineken, found out they only carried the non-alcoholic version, ordered a mother’s milk- Sorry out of that too! Hmmmm, strike 3 and we don’t even have drinks yet.
Parking - be aware that parking is limited. You go to park and you are directed to drive around to the tent area, see hostess, pay $5.00, get a green paper pass then come back to park. Only to figure out when other family members arrive there are only 10 parking spots. BUT you can park on back side of lot and use the meter But who would know this unless you’re a regular or it’s during the week when they aren’t as busy.
Dinner - told right away lobster was not available and that as the evening progresses the menu would change and update depending on what was left. NOTE our reservation was 5:15 seems a bit early to be out of so many items when the holiday weekend had just begun. Covid safe menu ordering though. You order Thru your phone ...no Paper menus. Ordered the calamari appetizer very good but two of us ordered the same app and the portion sizes were very uneven. Mentioned it and was told they would check on it but never heard anymore. Hamburgers were very good, but order was mixed up and the medium rare burger given to the person that ordered the medium well. Obviously blood soaked bun and plate. New burger came out quickly and was very good. On a good note - they brought out complimentary dessert for the person celebrating their birthday which was very nice. Thank you!
Staff- friendly, apologetic and tried to make amends but they are totally outnumbered by the amount of guests and are working under “odd circumstances” to say the least.
Bathroom Beware- very long lines with a single stall
We realize Covid has put restraints and restrictions on everyone but restaurants have been open for a while now and I think they need to rethink their process as it is certainly chaotic and overwhelming. I also realize they were swamped with weekend visitors hiking the mountains and browsing shops BUT it’s essential everyone have a great experience. since we live relatively close we probably would have been return customers had our experience been better. everyone looks for a great place they can go to from time and time with good food and great views. After speaking with the friend who recommended Riverview they had never been there on the weekend. Perhaps that...

My friend and I came back from a hike in cold spring. The older lady with short blonde hair, black shirt overlayed with a white crochet top wearing black glasses (hostess or manager possibly?) was pretty unwelcoming when we walked in - however I understand people have bad days, so no big deal.
My friend and I were very polite even complimented our server on her dyed hair, however our server with blue and pink hair, tie dye glasses was anything but nice to us. From the start, it was off-putting, when I tried to order an appetizer before deciding on my main course, she told me I “it’s easier to order it all together,” which came across as dismissive. Later, when I asked politely for two separate takeout boxes, she just stared at me in silence, as if I had made an unreasonable request.
But the worst part of the night was the mice running inside the restaurant. The first time I pointed it out to our server, she completely ignored me, even though I said it clearly. The table next to us even encouraged me to repeat it because they were concerned; the mice were running back and forth between two rooms, and one even jumped on a woman’s foot without her noticing. When I told our server again, visibly upset, she just looked unfazed and said, “sorry for the inconvenience.” She only gave us any attention once the table next to us made a commotion about the same issue. At that point, the head hostess/manager came in, but instead of taking it seriously, both she and the server were talking behind my friend’s back and looked visibly annoyed at us. The head hostess never even acknowledged us.
At the end of the night, I tried to address it lightheartedly, and asked “So when are you guys going to put up mouse traps?” and the server replied, “It’s a long story.” Absolutely unbelievable.
Between the rudeness and the blatant sanitation problem, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had. I have to admit the food was great - the bread, fungi pizza, and oysters were actually amazing. Despite all this we still even tipped 20%. Overall, the situation was so concerning that I feel it should be reported to the health department. I hope they use this situation as a learning tool and treat customers with more respect and take care of the...
Read moreAfter a great day in Cold Spring I really tried to give this restaurant the benefit of a doubt. When walking in, the hostess, a women with blonde hair, stared at us. I didn’t mind it, but I was confused on where to sit and if we were even in the right entrance. After eventually being seated and after about 15 minutes of having our meal, my friend spotted at least 2 MICE running back and forth past the entrance to the main seating area. My friend let the waitress and hostess know, but the waitress looked at us, sighed, and said “ I apologize for the inconvenience,” while the hostess just seemed to walk away. We already felt unwelcome upon our first interaction so we tried to be polite and even said it’s not your fault. After this, I then saw a mouse jump by a woman’s foot by the table next to us and they obviously began getting nervous as well. The four of us including the two other guests at the neighboring table, tried to tell the hostess, but the hostess really didn’t have a response. The whole dining experience felt really uncomfortable, unfortunately, almost like I was intruding in someone’s house the way that the hostess would look at us when walking by our table…on top of this, we asked for two boxes, the waitress looked very confused and upset- I didn’t want to inconvenience her when I realized this was possibly an odd request by her reaction, but this is how our food was wrapped. Still gave a generous tip because I know how difficult serving can be, but was very disheartened by this entire experience. I’m honest so I will say the food was great and the bus staff was excellent (the waitress and hostess were very upsetting) Will never be giving this resturant my money again and will be notifying the...
