The most versatile restaurant I know of on the East End. Forget all the typical things you would expect me to say with a 5 star review- (impeccable service/AMAZING food/great atmosphere/fairly priced and worth every last cent)...
Brix and Rye, the speakeasy style cocktail lounge is the BEST place to bring a date. It's romantic and intimate, and every craft cocktail is memorable. I don't even drink with exception of special occasions, but every time I end up here...the drinks are too good. Just being in the presence of their menu us a special occasion in itself. It's hard not to fall in love sitting there.
1943 pizza bar, their flagship restaurant is warm and inviting. They use seasonal local ingredients. It's the easiest place to approach when with a group of indecisive friends in greenport, as there is something for everyone on the menu, just the pizzas alone come with 30 something toppings to choose from?? It's beautiful, charming and privately tucked off the main strip of stores in an open stone alleyway.
Then there's Rolling in Dough Pizza Truck. This is truly why I'm writing this review, they recently catered my wedding. Every single person that I had told, had been to a party catered by them, or know someone who attended one. Rolling in Dough is talk of the town. Exquisite enough for a celebrity to rent (trust me, they've had plenty of A-list clients) and casual enough to blend in on a old charming farm. I had 110%. confidence in knowing they would hit it out of the park AND THEY DID. There is no better wedding combination for a rustic wedding, it's aesthetically pleasing AND SO DELICIOUS. Forget formal sit-down dinners. They aren't fun. Our guests were thanking us for not having your run of the mill chicken/steak/fish- which is definitely coming frozen from restaurant depot/large wholesale suppliers no matter what you might believe. Giving your guests the freedom to order a pizza made from scratch- in front of your eyes-is infinitely more exciting. It was the talk of the night. Guests gasp in excitement when they find out a pizza truck is coming. And then they see the brick oven start piping, dough spinning in the air, all the freshest, local ingredients out in front of you, and it's hard not to keep eating. Maribeth, their event coordinator, absolutely nailed every detail of their catering plan. So kind and patient, responsive and responsible. I'm already considering planning an anniversary party just to relive the...
Read moreI had an absolutely amazing experience at 1943. The ambiance was fantastic, and the food was out of this world. The Harbor ale beer had a whisper of ocean brine, balanced and lovely, pairing wonderfully with the pizza. It had a medium hoppy flavor that was lightly sweet.
The red sauce ricotta, noonas meatballs, onions, and mozzarella pizza was perfection. It was just saucy enough, just cheesy enough, with a thin and crispy crust. The cheese pull was strong, and the crust was light, fluffy, and crispy. The red sauce was full of flavor. The meatballs, sliced like pepperoni, were savory, and the onions added a wonderful touch. The ricotta cheese was like mashed potatoes, simply amazing.
The Margarita pizza was another delight. The tomatoes were fantastic, with the added extras of potatoes and onions balancing the tomatoes' acidity and sweetness. The bright herbal garlic goodness with the soft starchy added mashed potato was a revelation. The crust was so good, you must make sure to eat it. Note that the Margarita pizza does not come with onions and mashed potatoes as standard, we added those as extras.
Lastly, the outdoor setting on the patio was private and secluded from the sidewalk, great for dog lovers. The indoor setting had a big oven in the middle, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The service was wonderful, kind, and generous, embodying the best of Long Island hospitality. We had such an incredible experience that we came back again the same day. I highly recommend 1943 for anyone looking for a top-notch...
Read moreWe (my husband and I) went to this place last night 9.20.25, pizza looked delicious, we waited for over 45 minutes at the bar next door to be called, we sat and no one came to take our order for about 15 minutes, there was a waiter pouring wine to the people next to us, my husband asked if we could get some service and the waiter gave him a nasty look even the people sitting next to us were telling us how rude the waiter was and when he came back to us he said “sorry I couldn’t pour the wine out fast enough” my husband said “are u gonna continue with this? Just do ur job” and next thing we know someone else came to us to ask us to leave with security and everything. Not a normal behavior for a restaurant, the “manager” or whoever she was didn’t even have the decency to ask what happened she just sent people to tell us to leave. I would give this place 0 stars if i could. Do a better Job, I run a business and I always ask the customer their side of the story before assuming the worker is right.
I had to answer to your comment about “our daughter” apologizing to you??? WE DONT HAVE A DAUGHTER we were on date night and my husband wasn’t drunk, so stop trying to make stuff up to defend your nasty employee’s behavior. You should be ashamed of yourself for lying on a public review. Just do better moving forward cause if you scroll down on your reviews there’s many people talking about the rude service and staff and you have done nothing to fix it....
