When you first walk in, this restaurant has all the makings of a fine establishment. Decor is inviting, lighting is great, and the open kitchen entices you for things to come. Unfortunately, this is where all good things come to an end. Upon entering, half of the bar was taken up with service trays and linen and utensils for the staff to roll napkins. This was at peak dinner time. The hostess was inexperienced but welcoming, the bartender/food runner/server was clearly tasked with too many things to do at once. After not being acknowledged at bar seats for 15 min, we placed a drink order. It took an extra 15 min for those wines to be poured. The menu read very well - well balanced, interesting, and attractive. We placed a hearty order of many dishes to try. Unfortunately, it seemed the kitchen was lacking communication amongst themselves and between the server. The chef was not taking command of the kitchen (and this you could tell bc it was wide open and you could hear everything). There was a lot of frustration and confusion. This is not something you want to be privy to as a customer. After 30 min of waiting for starters, and realizing the tables before us still weren’t served either, we asked to pay for our wine and cancel our food order. This led to a very loud and obvious temper tantrum from the kitchen.
Basically, I am surprised at all the good reviews based on how messy this restaurant functions. I don’t think this was just an off night. Enter at your...
Read moreVisited this restaurant in the off season for a birthday dinner and it was far from stellar. I understand it was off season but this was a totally unacceptable/disappointing experience. The waiter/bartender/host was inattentive during our entire stay and we were the only ones in the place for a majority of our meal. Starting with our beverage order, he went behind the bar organizing menus, seemingly to purposely delay our drinks instead of pouring our beer. The restaurant has no high chairs available for children, luckily we had our own and I’m not mad about this fact. When we accidentally knocked over a glass from the small table in the middle of our meal, the waiter/host that witnessed this made no attempt to help clean it up and left the broken glass at our feet for the remainder of the meal and the beer splattered about. Yes, it was our mistake, but to leave the broken glass at our feet was uncomfortable and a safety risk.
I ordered a side of fries for $11 and they were completely inedible, soggy and saturated in oil. The burger was said to be cooked to order but when we ordered a medium rare burger it came out well done. The waiter never stopped by to check in or ask if we needed anything. The other food we ordered was mediocre. I’d eat the Brussels sprouts again but I can’t see myself returning to this...
Read moreEvery single thing we ordered was way too salty. Crab dip tasted like there was no crab in it. Fish and chips were so salty I couldn’t taste the fish. French fries were soggy and way too salty. My husband got a filet minion and it looked like someone already ate it before serving it. The portion wouldn’t be enough for a child. And they serve rice in a metal plate like I feed my dog from. The cocktails not good at all. My husband ordered a margarita and it was pretty much a margarita mix with ice. I feel if the waiter, who was apparently a bartender as well, didn’t know how to make a cocktail, he should have say so and we would have stick to the wine. For the first time in a long time both my husband and I left hungry because nothing tasted good. I felt like $130 went straight to the garbage. Just sad. I was reading all the reviews about such amazing atmosphere but I didn’t feel that. Once you seat by the wall you are up high and the person in front of you all the way down on much lover seat. The entire meal you look down at them and also the table is so long you can’t really talk. Strange. Also the chairs are so worn out and leather pealing off. The stools at the bar are very stained. The cloth napkins are old and for some reason they only gave us forks and no knifes. Worst experience in the past...
