I feel bad leaving a not-so-great review, but I'm a bit salty over my recent experience here.
We went here on 11/9 for dinner (conveniently it was restaurant week).
We arrived a bit before our reservation and sat at the bar (there were four of us). The bartender took drinks from three of our party, and after the third ordered a couple next to us asked me where I was from, to which I took 10 seconds to explain half of us were local, and half were from the city.
In that time, the bartender walked away and grabbed the drinks for the others in my group. I tried ordering when she brought the drinks back, and she completely ignored me. For the next TWENTY minutes, nobody in my party could get her to speak to us. Eventually someone spoke up since it was my birthday asking if I can get a drink and it's been 20 minutes, and she very, very rudely responded "I asked him what he wanted but he was too busy chatting with people." I stared at her blankly for about 5 seconds and again she said "I did ask you, and you were too busy talking, right?" to which again I just stare at her directly for 5 seconds before saying "You never approached me or spoke to me at all. Maybe you glanced at me but you sure as hell never spoke to me, and I was only talking for a few seconds when they asked where we were from"
Anyway she was pretty rude. Our table was ready at this point so we left the bar and grabbed our table. As soon as we stood up, the bartender grabbed one of my friends drinks and dumped it out (it was still half full)!
Our waiter was awesome though and finally got me a drink (and comped it), as well as replacing the tossed drink.
Looking back at the bar it was apparent that:
The food was pretty good however. One of my chicken skewer sticks was on fire when it was brought to the table however (guessing they sticks weren't soaked beforehand). I burnt one of my fingers pretty badly on the stick even after letting it cool quite a while, but I was a little impatient at this point!
Anyhoo I'm sure the restaurant is typically better staffed than this. The food is definitely worth it, but this bartender was very, very nasty (she was even yelling at other staff members), so I won't visit this place if I see her behind the bar (if she's not there I'd give it a go). Hopefully someone just called out sick, but if not, they should look to have more barstaff during such busy times, and maybe get more pleasant people...
Read moreYAYYYYY SOOOO GOOOOOD!!! With soooo many food choices in Greenport it is sooo hard to decide! BUT, my parents were visiting us in Laurel last minute and my mom wanted to go to Greenport for lunch!! Lo and behold, my hunnnnies Jeff and I have been meaning to try Noah’s!! First off it was about 12:45pm on a Saturday and I called in for a 1:45 reservation! The girl on the phone was lovely and easily accommodated! We arrive and because my dad recently had surgery he is using a walker the girl at the front desk upon my request seated us in this nice, open table inside! Everything from there continued to be GREAT!!! A big WIN for Leslie and Edgar who serviced our table! My dad was looking for a bud light (which they didn’t carry) but Leslie quickly offered up a local equivalent that was on tap and gave him a tasting at her request! He didn’t love it but he was so appreciative of her recommendation and her thoughtfulness for him to give it a try! true service 💖🙌🏻💖 from there we started with some apps which were AMAZING!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Jeff and I had the spicy tuna bites (I think that’s the name w the crispy rice!) and the beef tacos AMAZEEEEEE!!! My parents had the crab cake (NO FILLER or bread Wahhh pure crab!!!? 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻) and the New England clam chowder BIG BITES OF CRAB??? honestly I gotta say I was jealous we didn’t order it…😂. Again their apps AMAZEEEE bc I had to taste them 😂💪🏻😂. Then for the main dishes we got the Seafood Bouillabaisse and they split for us!!! And my parents got the halibut and they were easily able to split the plate themselves!! Oh my lord SOOOO DELISH!!! Plus add I had 2 glasses of Chardonnay 💖💪🏻💖 , Jeff had a Diet Coke and my dad ended up with a lemonade and mom water. ALL IN ALL EVERYTHING WAS DELISH!!! I have to say I want to come back and order brunch BC that menu looks soooo good toooo!!! It was so hard to decide! Eitherway stop by, make a trip of it and try this food!!! You won’t be disappointed and you will be soooo happy you came!!! Can’t wait to come back for brunch!!! 💖🥰💖🥰~ Noah’s food and staff is TOP...
Read moreI was disappointed with my recent experience at Noah's on many levels. It all started with an inexperienced host (with tad bit of attitude), who was caught off guard by my not having a reservation for two ppl-- with an empty restaurant (and semi-empty outdoor tables). It literally took him 10 minutes to look at the reservations in the computer. After 10 minutes -- he looked up and asked- inside or outside? I said, "since I am an inconvenience, you tell me what works best for you?" His response was as I predicted-- "Ok- well it is really tight and I don't really have any tables for you but I will try to put you outside" - no apology at all or assuring me he would accommodate us - essentially confirmed we were indeed an inconvenience for him. I almost left - but I was hungry and wanted to try it. After 15-20 minutes of waiting, we were finally seated outside. water was dumped on our table - along with a large lump covered with a cloth napkin- no explanation that it was our bread. We waited about a another half an hour before our waitress arrived to take our drinks order and tell us the specials. We both ordered the scallop special - which were served quickly but LUKEWARM (we had no idea local sea scallops cost $38 and for that price they better be hot out of the kitchen -- unfortunately they weren't!) Despite being lukewarm, they were cooked perfectly and tender. They were paired with in season and local vegetables -a nice flavorful combination. Seasoning was also very good.
for me, there is nothing worse then a restaurant that actually has talent behind its food selection but can't get its service and kitchen output right. I sit back and think about the chef and sous chef who worked hard to output that dish perfectly and to have a server screw up and deliver it lukewarm… not acceptable. ( BACKGROUND: i am a seasoned restaurant person in NYC and have worked in media reviewing restaurants for a very large publication. now retired - fortunate for Noah's I won't be publishing a...
