SpecialTea House — Restaurant in Town of Southold

Upon walking into this establishment, we waited for the receptionist of the salon next door to get off her lengthy phone call before even greeting us and had no idea where to check in for our reservation. Once we were seated and looking over the menu, we were greeted by a pleasant waitress. However, upon receiving our food (3 people ordered the simple tea, $22 each and one classic tea, $32 each) we were very regretful for choosing this place to visit. There was hardly enough food for 1 person, let alone 4. We had 1, 3 tiered dish was supposed to serve 4 adults. I was anticipating there would be a 3 tiered platter for each when they advertise as “$22 PER PERSON”. For example, there was 1 small cucumber sandwich to split amongst 4 people. The bill came to over $80 + tip - we left starving and underwhelmed. After living out here for almost 35 years, I was embarrassed and so disappointed with the service I was provided by a local business I chose to support for that...

We dined here for Mother’s Day today. Our table was lovely. Although we were informed we might have to relocate. We didn’t have to. The service was friendly but dismal. The hot tea we ordered was 40 minutes late, after it was initially forgotten about & reordered. When it did arrive, we were notified that our table would turn over in 15 minutes, so we never had the opportunity to even finish it. It also lacked strength, actually seeming watered down. Go with the iced tea which was good. The finger sandwiches were good. The lavender shortbread yummy. The scones were particularly good, however one of our spreads wasn’t served. Such an adorable place to enjoy an afternoon tea. You have 3 choices to choose from. The choices range in price and amounts. With the increase in price you get more food. I chose the middle option for $40. The food was plated just beautifully. All pretty and delicate china adorned the table. I thought it was great that all the teas could be hot or cold. Staff was attentive. The outside is decorated perfectly. Two of us had the $40 option. I would just add I was surprised that there wasn't more food on the shared tiered platter that was $80.
