This place has a lot of potential (the outdoor space is gorgeous, so you really can't go wrong!), so I hope to visit again and have a different experience.
It really came down to the people behind the counter: both the young man and woman working looked at us without a greeting when we walked in. When I mentioned I'd have a water, I got a blank stare. I saw the water jug and said, "can I self serve?" and was given a "yeah" that came off as a "duh." The two were talking and laughing with each other when not interacting with customers, so it didn't seem social skills were lacking, more just they didn't want to be working or who knows. It was a disappointing interaction that set the tone for the experience.
As for the food: the miso carrot ginger salad was decent, though not a standout. The lamb and beef kofta platter had real potential. Great flavor on the meat but it was barely warm. The sauces were fantastic too (strawberry chili sauce and roasted red pepper sauce), though paired with hummus it felt like it needed more pita/salad to be able to consume all the sauces and truly enjoy them. The coffee we got was fine.
Overall, it felt a bit more grab-and-go under the guise of dining in. And, when you add tip to these items and it comes to nearly $60, it's easy to feel like the value/experience didn't match the cost.
Early Terrible had an entire personality and vibe and this new spot has lost much of that and feels a bit bland and generic, but hopefully it will find it's own...

Their mortadella burrata sandwich is GORGEOUS. Also love the salmon tartare. Not on the menu anymore but the baked egg dishes and chilaquiles were excellent too.
The fluffy egg sandwich had more of a delicate steamed egg chawanmushi or gyerajjim ,which is more custard/jelly. It’s a little odd as a BEC but interesting nonetheless. I’d probably do without the American cheese since the egg texture and flavor is...
Read moreWretched choice for a Chronogram issue release. The steep, rocky outdoor drinking/bar areas are a painful fall or turned ankle just waiting to happen. And calling "food" the privilege of buying a cafeteria-style salad in a plastic bowl for $16 is a waste when there are at least 4 restaurants within a minute's walking distance where you can get table service and a fresh burger for the same money. Maybe its layout is okay for 20somethings who want to see and be seen along the Woodstock sidewalk, but for those of us for whom steady footing better complements our ligation choices, we left within minutes of arriving. Nothing about this was conducive to networking. At...
