Update: +2 stars. Since my previous review, I have had several positive experiences, which leads me to believe that my negative experience in October 2020 was unique. The food has been exceptional, the orders have been correct, and delivery has been timely. I am happy to recommend Katmandu Kitchen.
** October 2020: This was my worst restaurant experience in 2020. We called and spoke to someone to confirm an item was available. We placed our order at 5:56pm. The website estimate 45 minutes for delivery. By 7pm, I called the restaurant. No answer. By 7:15pm, I sent messages on Google and Facebook messenger. The Facebook message was viewed, but no response was given. I continued to call a total of 7 times over the next 40 minutes, no answer. So I drove to the restaurant, walked in, dialed the number again--sure enough, their phone rang, but it was ignored. When the order was finally delivered, it was incorrect--items missing (ironically, the exact item we'd confirmed was available). It is now 8pm, two hours after ordering and paying a tip for delivery, and I'm still sitting in the restaurant, in person, waiting for a corrected order while my food gets cold at home. Read moreKathmandu kitchen is a great place for authentic Nepalese food. The owner is also very friendly and makes sure that all the customers are enjoying their time at the restaurant (the staff is also good). I have been going to this place for about 3 years now, and they have never disappointed me.
However, recently (during the current COVID pandemic) I ordered the food twice from here for delivery and both the time the food was not great. The first time the curry smelled like bad yogurt (curd), but I thought this might just be 1 time as I have never had such experience in past. I ordered again yesterday this time a simple dish (dal makhani) hoping that this cannot be messed up and when it arrived the dish was like boiled grains and a pinch of salt and spice with plenty of water. I am sure that this is not how the dish is suppose to be.
I am writing this review to bring forth these recent change in food quality (to the owner who might not be aware of this) - it might be that they got a new chef or something has changed for sure.
I hope food gets back to normal and I can again start enjoying.

Read moreGot the groupon for takeout and decided to try it. They refused to honor the groupon because we placed our order online via their own website. They insisted the fine print says this isn't allowed. We read the fine print out loud to them to show that there was no such restriction listed. Apparently ordering online from their own website (instead of calling) means they pay a small fee to some business who facilitates the online order and they aren't willing to take a double hit with the groupon. Fine with me if that is spelled out clearly. It isn't. A good business would honor the groupon and then go fix the fine print for the future. The guy just rudely kept saying it wasn't possible. Not true- its totally possible, he just chose not to. Isn't the whole point of running a groupon to incentivize people to come try your business with the hopes that they will return and pay full price in the future?
