cant complain about the ice cream at all. although my mint ice cream did not taste very minty,, it was still good. we have been there several times and the ice cream is good. i should start by saying that i almost never go online and give a bad review. my real disappointment this time was the absolute lack of any social distancing, and cleaning. and the fact that not one employees was wearing gloves. the customers were all lined up within inches of each other. and noticed that once you are actually up at the counter, you must be allowed to remove your mask, which makes no sense to me, especially when all of the customers are withing a foot or two at most. I also noticed that several people eating ice cream inside, and not once did somone come and sanitize the table after someone finished eating.. i really just wanted to go to their website and email the owner, and or manager, but they dont seem to have one. i dont mean to rip them apart, but my anger, and frustration is getting the best of me, as i fear that if this type of stuff continues at bars, resturants, ice cream shops, or any place there are peop[e in a smaller area, this virus will continue to spread, and we will all end up locked down for months again. i blame the customers, and the owners of milk and honey. there needs to be someone in charge, and tell the customers to stand 6 feet apart, leave their mask on, and encourage them to eat outside. especially now that front street is closed to traffic. hopefully the owners of milk and honey will read this and take...
Read moreWe stopped at Milk and Honey after our dinner, for our dessert. This is an ice-cream shop that advertises as being vegan-friendly using organic, local products. I'd had a taste of their sorbets a week ago when we dined at a restaurant that served Milk and Honey's blueberry sorbet, and it was delicious. I can't have dairy, so when I find a place that serves a good creamy non-dairy sorbet/ice-cream, I'm in!
The location is in the downtown area of Traverse city, but there's usually plenty of parking nearby. The shop is typical ice-cream parlor chic, with several tables and chairs covered by umbrellas outside. There's indoor seating as well.
They seem to change up what they serve as the blueberry was gone, replaced by several other selections of sorbet. They also had several vegan selections including a vegan chocolate.
I had the Mumbai Spice sorbet, and my s/o had the Dreamcycle ice cream.
My partner said his ice cream was good, but that the flavor wasn't very strong. My Mumbai Spice, reminiscent of chai, was very good, creamy and I would never have known there wasn't dairy in it.
My s/o had a double scoop in a medium cone, I had a single scoop in a small dish, and our total was around $10. A little pricy, but in my opinion Milk and Honey delivered an excellent product at a price that was reasonable for the...
Read moreMilk & Honey had an excellent variety of ice cream and gelato, and an impressive stock of vegan options as well!
The employee who served the ice cream was extremely enthusiastic and let me try a few different flavours before deciding to go with one of their house recipes - the Sleeping Bear Sundae. It was delectable! I loved how you could either select one of their house recipes or create your own mix with their wide variety of toppings and flavours.
They make your mix right in front of you and service is incredibly quick - when we came in there was a bit of a line but we didn’t wait more than five minutes!
The prices are a little higher than your typical ice cream parlour, but completely worth it for the experience, service, and organic options. They had such a wide variety of obscure flavours - my friend tried the Honey Lavender and said it had a lovely light flavour, and I also taste tested the Sweet Crème and Birthday Cake flavours which were excellent.
My only complaint was the lack of indoor seating - with the temperatures outside being so cold in Traverse City, more people wanted to stay in and eat than there was room for. There seemed to be enough room to add at least two additional tables, so it would truly perfect the experience to incorporate those extra...
