I ate breakfast there with my parents. We were sat in front at a tiny table for 4 adults. The server was indifferent. She did not smile or greet anyone amicably. Our coffee cups and water stayed empty unless we begged for refills. It was busy and we waited an hour or longer for breakfast. A sauce was spilled and the waitress wiped it quickly slipping it on my shirt. Hasty. Sloppy service.
The eggs Benedict can only be described as a disappointment. One egg was hard boiled- solid through and through. It sat on toast so hard it could not be cut and scattered off my plate. The other egg was gooey. How the line cook they must have hired made one egg soft and the other rock solid I have no idea. The taste was very mediocre. I was sad that I was not at a better restaurant and wasted my morning there.
We asked the server for softer bread and a correctly poached egg. He seemed baffled as what to do with a badly cooked egg. The general manager plunked a single poached egg on the table, and proceeded to give insincere apologies that sounded more like a "screw you". Honestly it was embarassed how unprofessional their manager once. He was easily goaded into a shouting match with my father. It was honestly shameful.
I wonder what Dave Ramsey would have to say about this restaurant. It was like being on the show "Kitchen Nightmares". The food was mediocre, but the service was shockingly poor. There is too much ego and defensiveness, not enough care about the quality of the food and customer experience.
Do yourself a favor and skip it. For that price I could get a much better experience at the Chefs House or any other restaurant that cares...
Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant with a group of 10—4 adults and 6 kids—and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. To start, while they did accommodate our reservation, it was clear the owner was not happy about having a larger party with children. After we were served drinks and were helping the kids figure out what they wanted to eat (as any parent knows, this takes a moment), the owner came to our table—not to check in or welcome us—but to rudely tell us to “control our kids.” Mind you, the kids were seated, not being loud or disruptive, simply being children and deciding on their meals. Instead of offering a family-friendly environment, the owner was condescending, disrespectful, and made it clear that families are not welcome here unless they meet his personal standard of “convenience.” Hospitality was non-existent. The attitude was arrogant, selfish, and dismissive, with no concern for the comfort of guests—especially those with children. When we decided not to continue our meal and simply asked for the bill for our drinks, the owner blatantly ignored us—walking past our table and pretending not to hear us until we had to raise our voices just to get his attention. We quickly gathered the kids and left, and thankfully found another local restaurant nearby that welcomed us with kindness and true hospitality. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Families: avoid this place at all costs. It’s not worth the stress, the judgment, or the disrespect. There are far better establishments out there that value your presence and treat you with...
Read moreAmical was actually our 2nd choice on this night but the other restaurant had a n one hour wait. We're very glad they did because our experience at Amical was outstanding. We have always loved Amical but it has been several years since our last visit. The weather this night was overcast, a bit breezy, and with temps around 50, maybe even high 40's. I mention the weather because the only immediate table available was in the closed in outdoor area. Outdoor seating is not permanently enclosed but rather well surrounded with attractive plastic. The area was heated and comfortable and we actually enjoyed the fresh air that filtered through. We are relatively light eaters and normally have food leftover to take home. We shared the Cracker Crust Pizza for appetizer and it was perfect. The garlic puree served as sauce and the cracker crust was awesome. We also shared a Ceasar Salad and loved it as well. Our entrees was the Center Cut Filet, medium rare, and it was prepared to perfection. For dessert we had the scrumptious Chocolate-Caramel Tart with bold Higher Ground coffee. It was a great meal. Our waitstaff was friendly and responsive. One of the 'exceeded expectations' moments for us came when we explained that we were light eaters. Our waitstaff asked if we'd prefer the Salad split instead of sharing one plate, and offered the same for the Filet. We don't normally ask for this because we have gotten the side-eye at other restaurants when we say we are sharing everything. It was a nice touch. We will...
