Backcountry North — Local services in Traverse City

Back Country North has great staff. Everyone who works here loves the outdoors and the gear that goes with it. They carry great brands like Patagonia and Osprey. The downtown store is much smaller than their US 31 location; however, they pack a lot in this store. I picked up a sweet pair of water proof mid hiking boots here. One of the team members helped size me to the correct shoe. I never felt like I was being pushed into buying anything, and respected by the team during the whole visit. Bought a kayak from another store and it had defects, got ahold of Native, they issued us a new one with the warranty, so we went to this store to pick it up and we've never been more impressed with somewhere! Alan was super helpful and so respectful! He checked over our kayak before we made the 2.5 hour drive to make sure it was worth it for us. Their customer service inside the store once we got there was also very impressive! If we ever need another kayak in the future, we WILL be making the 2.5 hour drive again just to come back here. I went in researching a frame pack upgrade, and recieved help from one of the most informative sales people I've ever encountered.
