My review will not be nice about this but before I start I will tell you a little bit about myself ,first I'm from Chicago il and I'm a die hard foodie and I know my pizza, when I'm done with my reviews most of you will say or think I can not compare Chicagos best pizza with a small place in traverse city and I agree you can not compare apple with oranges but you can give a review based on pure simple experience and taste with out being bias or subjective. Here is my review: First: The place has a awsome ambiance the color and the decor make you feel comfortable, the waitress was friendly. 2nd: The fries where above average I would dare to say delicious and that was the only delicious part of the restaurant and I had to order from the wAitress ketchup which she brought a small portion on one of those real Small plastic containers you get ranch dressing on and that did not make sense. 3rd :It was my son, wife and I so we decided to order 3 individual pizzas so we can try as many differnt specialty pizzas as possible,my son ordered a regular sausage and pepperoni ,my wife the buffalo chicken and myself the Mexican pizza. We were super excited on our personal pizzas given the fact that the variety of their specialty pizzas were large ,well as soon as they served our pizza visually they were not attractive but again I am the type that will taste anything I don't have a mental barrier when it comes with food I will first try anything before I can give my opinion on it ,to me if you haven't tried it shut your trap hole try it first than give your opinion sorry that's the way I am and believe that makes sense, so even doh it was not visually attractive I gave it a shot so my Mexican pizza had no Mexican flavor hell it had no flavor there attempt on making a Mexican pizza was a complete failure , on to the next one my wife's pizza the buffalo chicken omg it was so salty literally salty on our way back to the resort (Great Wolf lodge resort, let me tell you it's a nice decent resort) her tongue was still numb from how salty the pizza was and the lack of buffalo sauce was evident it was like eating salty cheese on pizza dough and the chicken in the pizza looked like they just heated it up and threw it on the pizza. Now my sons pepperoni and sausage how the "F" can you get this wrong dammmmm it's a simple basic pizza ,before I give my opinion and my sons let me give you a little insight on my sons foodie expertise lol he's a 10 year old boy well mannered because of his mother lol and to him the best pizza is Pizza Hut(which I don't agree but he is a child) Paisans Pizzeria in Berwyn Il (which I believe is delicious but by far the best from the Chicago land area) and he can eat LITTLE CEASARES lol that's just party pizza for kids, as soon as my son tasted his pizza he disliked it and please people understand I can not remember a time where he said a pizza was bad I was so surprised he loves pizza ,the personal pizza has 4 slices and he ate 1 slice and half take in to account he can eat up to 6-7 slices at a time I was dissapointed and he was even more. The pizza dough was bad with out hesitation I can compare the dough to Pizza Hut ,the sauce was below average and tasteless and I tried all 3 pizzas we ordered ,I feel real sorry for this place and the out of town people who stop and eat there. To the people from Traverse City it might be delicious but when your options are listed well what ever is the around will find its way to be the best. Again the personal was great and friendly fries were delicious ,ambiance was great and was inexpensive but don't go for the Pizza it's a waste of your...
Read moreBefore today, I would have given this place 5 stars. My family and I visit Traverse City every summer and this has been a favorite of ours! Three of us visited today and decided to order pizza slices from the outdoor window. They advertised both cheese and pepperoni by the slice. The people in front of us were given the last three available slices and I was told they had to put in an order for more and it would be about 20 minutes. I ordered three pepperoni slices and three beverages and paid for them in advance. We were given our drinks and happily waited at an outdoor table. After 30 minutes, I checked at the window and was told they were working on it and it would be a bit longer. As other customers came along, they were told that pizzas were being cooked and slices would be done soon. I checked again and was told the pizza was in the oven and that the restaurant was very busy. After a total of an hour of waiting, I asked to speak to a manager so I could just get my money back. The manager told me she was sorry but they were not doing slices at that time. What?! Was she serious?! Apparently she was. There was not even any pizza being cooked for slices! We waited an hour for pizza that was never coming. I was completely dumbfounded! The manager did return the money paid for the pizza but was not concerned at all about making things right. As someone who has been in the restaurant business and has had experience with customer service, I was completely apalled. So, while their pizza is great, do not be surprised if you experience poor customer service, and do not expect that a manager will rectify the...
Read moreWe were very anxious to visit since the upper deck had been built, as we have always been a huge fan of their pizza. We got there and ran to the upper deck looking for a cozy, comfortable table. We were immediately informed that we would have to go back downstairs and see the hostess in order to get seated. Just a note, there wasn’t a lot of people there. So we go back downstairs and the back door is locked. So we head all the way around the building to the front entrance. Then this young host takes us back up to the upper deck and seats us at a picnic table. We say that we would rather take one of the cozy two seaters with a seat back at the front of the upper deck. He says that he can’t do that because they have to fill the back tables first. So we sit then my husband goes to the bar and asks who’s in charge. He explains that we don’t want to sit at a picnic table, especially in light that we are seeing other people being seated at the more desirable seating area. She tells him to go back down to the lower level and he informs her we’ve already do that. Then she waves her hand and says sit wherever he want. My complaint is that we had to go through all that to get a nice table, again when there was like six open tables. After we were seated several other groups were seated in our area as well, with the picnic tables remaining unoccupied. The pizza was not as good as it used to be. We asked for thin crust, but unfortunately there were no options. We will not be going back to Pangeas. Aside from the young host, the wait staff were very...
