How do people enjoy this hotel! I don't understand. The owner may quite possibly be evil. If you enjoyed your stay it was only because nothing went wrong.
Our experience was awful from start to finish. When we first arrived at the hotel we were greeted with.... no one. Because no one was there. We finally had the owner come after about 20 minutes to say they weren't checking people in yet... ok... that's fine but shouldn't there be someone there to... oh idk... answer phones, take care of problems from guests you already have.... I thought it was an oversight at the time, but now I see their front desk personnel just doesn't care.
Anyway we wait until check in time. We go to check in and are given a key with what we assumed was our reserved room. Afterall, no one said anything different. Nope. We were given 1 twin bed rather then the queen we requested and a refrigerator which was our kitchenette. So I'm mildly irritated, but not super upset at this point. Mistakes are made and to be honest I'm sure I would make them especially if I was new. So my fiance goes down to tell them of the error. When he comes back up he said they weren't going to do anything. Ummmm what? Like they weren't going to dobanything... including give us a refund for what we paid. Disgusting. So I go down with proof that we booked a queen and kitchenette. The lady at the front desk said, well it wasn't on their end and since they were completely booked there is nothing they could do... ok.... but I am showing you proof that's what we booked and hotels.com confirmed that's what they sent you. She insisted they did not get a queen bed reservation but did not show me anything of the contrary... ok... so give us a refund. Nope... She was the absolute rudest person I have met. She just kept smiling at me and said I was welcome to cancel my reservation and book somewhere else. I said so then you partake in false advertising? She was insulted and said no. Ok then why did you advertise one thing and provide something less? That's false advertising. She didn't apologize, did not care, didn't even tell us they had to change our room when we checked in. So because of your poor management I have to pay for services I didn't recieve? Absolutely not. I immediately called hotels.com and Aby took care of us and apologized profusely for them. Thank god we booked through a third party because they got us into a much better hotel.
The worst part was when we went to return our keys. I had to witness them tell an elder man, whose wife specifically booked a handicapped room because she has a disability that prevents her from walking, that they could not accommodate them. This rude lady put them on the second floor with no elevator meaning he had to get her up the stairs. And she wasn't going to change it! She told them, with a smile, you are welcome to cancel your reservation and find something else. Omg. I couldn't believe it. I was so angry at this evil lady who just kept smiling not caring at all. This business deserves to be shut down. I know it's cheaper but at 150 a night you wont get what you pay for. Please do not support businesses that treat people in this manner. I am so thankful we booked through hotels.com and were able to leave. I hope this place doesn't stay in business long. I believe she was the owner's wife so I cant imagine she will be fired. But she was the main catalyst for our bad experience. The man we encountered first at least apologized and having to wait to check in isnt even a big deal. It happens at most hotels but not getting what you paid for and them refusing to give a refund is appalling. If you support individuals with disabilities or providing good customer service do NOT give these horrible...
Read moreI give this a 1 star because I have to select something. I would also like to say that the manager in the front office was very nice and understanding although things did not work out for our stay. To keep things short, this place fell way short in regards to a Bayside Inn and Marina, it was more so like a Bayside Dump and Dock. We arrived at midnight, the room (room 103) had a bad odor, the furniture was old and out dated, the bed was like sleeping on a wedge, the room layout was just odd, the air conditioner was extremely loud and poured water everywhere (hence the musky smell). Just a down right disappointment for my wife as she was trying to plan something nice for our 15th year anniversary weekend. After waking up at 8am, after a long but short night of sleep, my wife decided we were not going to remain at this location for the remainder of the weekend. We expressed our disappointment to the manger and she provided a complete refund. In addition, she agreed and said she understood the disappointment which we experienced. Back to the beginning to get to the end.......when I docked my boat at midnight, there was a dock line (with no boats around) so I utilized it thinking it was supplied for the guest. Boy was that a mistake. As I was packing my luggage in my vehicle while my wife was checking out with the manager, a guy (long term tenant) approach me asking if that was my boat docked. I answered with a "yes, that is my boat" and he began to inform me that that dock line was his. I apologized explained that we arrived a midnight and there were no boats around so I thought the dock line was for the guest of the Inn to utilize. Instead of this guys saying ok no problem, he began to tell me that he is tired of people stealing and using his ropes. At that point I informed him that I said sorry, that I would leave his rope as I did not have any intentions of stealing it and that I have nothing else to say. He continued to talk (at this point my patience had run out) I told him "to take his ass on as I already apologized for utilizing your rope and said I would ensure I left it there on the dock". He begin to threaten that he was going to call the police (I said ok great). He walked off and I continued to pack my vehicle. As I walked down to my boat, he and his wife was standing on the deck waiting for my to come to my boat. At which time, his wife told me "If you do not have the right equipment, you should not have a boat (again, I have five ropes on board, but thought the rope was for the guest to utilize). I told her I have already said sorry for using dock line to her husband (which my assumption was that it was her husband) and I had nothing else to say. As I untied the lined, I left it right there on the dock and motored off listening to their furious yells of me utilizing their dock line. In closure, we ended up 1 hour later at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Clearwater Beach S- Harbour Side for the remainder of our weekend, which was an amazing place to stay. To the guy that was mad at me for utilizing "HIS DOCK LINE".... To answer the question you rudely asked my wife, NO we do not generally have problems with others wherever we go. That is because we generally stay away from people like you!! Hope this helps others that are thinking about...
Read moreManagement apparently views customers as an inconvenience. On four occasions during our recent stay I was chastised by the live-in managers. The first time was when they called me to their office (which was one door down from my room) to retrieve a parking pass, which they failed to give me at check-in; the second time was because I asked for towels but had failed to read that old towels must be out out before 11a.m. each day, before new towels are given; the third day I placed the towels out as instructed but new towels were not delivered (I only received two towels after being asked if I out them out on time); and the fourth time I received a call saying my dog was barking and that he had been barking day and night (I must be a heavier sleeper than I thought). In the meantime, requests were always met with an eye roll, our room was not cleaned based on their every other day schedule, and no mention of the dog was made until after my concerns were voiced and people started checking in for the weekend, using the ice machine directly beside our room...a room assigned as per friendly and one of up to 50 that were likely available when we checked in on the Thursday prior to weekend volume which prompted a call to us at 5p on Saturday...my how the new arrivals must have suffered during their two hours since check-in. These two managers couldn't be bothered to speak nicely or to get off their butts to remedy issues, or even to smile, but given an opportunity felt free to yell at a customer.
We had already decided not to stay our last night and were fully packed within five minutes of their call to us about barking....too quick for the last and biggest concern to be aired...it seems their Covid cleaning is suspect and misses key things like floor cleanliness and proper towel laundering....it even fails to catch ice bucket usage as we found our bucket had water from a used bag that had apparently not been changed...makes me wonder if they care about anything, especially their customers. There are lots of choices in St Pete beach and until the managers get trained on customer service, you'd be wise to avoid this place. P.S. as we were leaving we noticed several young men, four doors down having a weed party...yikes, at least...
