I will definitely be coming back here and told all my friends who live in St Pete about it to tell their visiting friends about it. Clean and simple rooms. IKEA type furniture and very comfortable bed (I was in a room with a king size bed). Bathroom was clean. Kitchen was great with nice stuff to use for cooking. I gave 4 stars for service simply because the stove top didn’t work one evening and there were no instructions in the room to work it and no one at the office to ask about it. I asked the next day and they gave me a trouble shoot paper. I think that should just be in the rooms already because I had to microwave the meal instead of cook it (it wasn’t a big deal tho). I also didn’t read the email before arriving (so my bad) though it would have been really helpful at checkin to find out about the code for the key outside the room in the lockbox (I accidentally locked myself out of my room the first night without my phone and didn’t have the code to get back in so slept in my car).
From that (my fault for locking myself out) I learned it’s a super safe area! lol
The day before I left others wanted to check in (they had been told to come back cuz their room wasn’t ready) but the service person wasn’t there to check them in. I helped them find their email and figure it out but it seemed odd to me that they originally wanted to check in but couldn’t and then no one was there to help later.
For the price this place went above my expectations by a lot!
Remember to read your email before arriving and let them know if you will check in late (they have signs on their door by the pool of what to do and a number to call for help as well).
The pool was one of the cleanest I’ve ever been to at a hotel.
The price was lower by far compared to anything in the area or city.
I’m excited to have found this place and can’t...
Read moreFor the past 20 plus years my husband and I have been going to the Satellite Motel. The Previous owners were wonderful, and their motel accommodations were always clean and friendly. Sadly, this past year 2020 the motel was sold to NEW OWNERS. With the new ownership we have found some challenges especially when booking a reservation. We recently booked a 3-day weekend which was cancelled for some reason by the manager. In the past we have usually booked in person and if requested put up a deposit. As usual our reservation was made in person and no deposit was needed to secure the dates requested per the manager. On our check in day, it was explained that our room reservation as promised was already rented and that our reservation cancelled. What was equally alarming was the fact that as we stood in the office awaiting an explanation the clerk stated after speaking with the manager “nothing more can be done and if we did not leave immediately the police would be called”. We are seniors and we were trying to request an explanation of this cancellation from the manager. This is NOT how a solid business works to ensure both parties have a good outcome. My husband has since tried to contact the manager for an explanation but has had no communication with management as they are too busy to be bothered. To us It seems that the new owner/management does not need the support of its local people or repeat customers to fill their rooms and that’s too bad. We have gotten the hint and I would like to wish them the best of luck. Hopefully they will treat other residents a little better then how we were treated. P. Vail,...
Read moreThe Satellite Motel is what I would call a retro type of place. It was built in 1958 but they have made significant upgrades. The pluses: price was great, access to the beach and surrounding retail shops was convenient, the pool area was really nice, the motel overall was clean and while parking is limited, we had no problem parking each night. The negatives: the AC units in the living room and bedroom were LOUD and not terribly efficient (we had to keep them on 68 just to cut through the humidity). We stayed in the Seagull Nest (#122) and had 2 double beds which we did get use to but the mattresses could use upgrading or at least flipping since there were major divots in the center. They don't have what you would call traditional room service but they did come daily to empty the trash and provide fresh towels. I've stayed in more expensive hotels that didn't provide those services so that was greatly appreciated. While there weren't a lot of kitchen amenities, we had everything we needed to fix a nice breakfast in the morning prior to heading out. Suggestions: maybe think about upgrading coffee makers to Keurigs. Probably a nit but it would have been more convenient. The owners might also want to think about doing something about the shower in #122. The plug to pull up on to turn on the shower was broken so when you turn on the water, you get the bath/shower both going. All in all, I was pleased with our stay and would stay at the Satellite...
