Iāve really wanted to like this place because Iāve heard good things about them for most of my life, and Iāve come semi frequently for years now. It seems the quality of food and general service has dropped over time, though. At first I thought maybe it was just a one off or maybe I left the steaks in the fridge for too long (2 days should still be good), but Iāve been disappointed with their meat every time Iāve bought it, from prime grade ribeye to their ugly steaks. The meat just tastes off, like maybe their cooler isnāt up to temp? Idk, but I started buying steaks from Costco now. Iād prefer to support local and not have to deal with Costco crowds, but Iāve had too many bad experiences here recently.
And if you want something on a holiday, make sure you show up well before they say they close, because they have been closed every time Iāve shown up. I honestly donāt care if you close early or even shut down for the day, just please update your hours so I donāt drive all the way over there to find itās closed.
They have a pretty decent variety of things you canāt get at the grocery store, and they donāt seem overpriced, so Iāll still probably come occasionally to grab frozen organ meat or something to make dog food, but I think thatās about all Iām interested in here. The people are friendly, but I donāt know if I would call it good āserviceā. I hope they improve on these things so I can give their steaks another shot. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Dickman's with high hopes. We opted for the lunch special one Satuday and the girl that took our order seemed annoyed to have customers.
There was a distinct smell of old meat looming which made us decide to get our order to go. While waiting for 15 to 20 minutes, we listened to a man who must have been the owner or manager, loudly berate the staff and begin clunking around in the walk in refrigerator and talk about what should have been thrown away. Boxes came out of said refrigerator rather quickly, giving the impression they'd been thrown.
When our names are called, we were relieved to be leaving. The atmosphere was awful, the employees unhappy and appearing to hate their jobs. When we were handed our saran wrapped plates, I noticed my side was missing. I had ordered a pasta side. The boy helping us at this point said it was wrapped with the other sandwich. It took us a minute to explain both sandwiches were to have sides. He wanted to know which employee took our order, looked at the order form, muttered something and packed the pasta salad.
When we got home, we noticed the sandiches were mostly bread, little filling and not good. We threw most of the food away.
We also picked up one of their take and bake meatloaf, which was equally disappointing. It would have been cheaper and better to make it myself, and my meatloaf is not very good!!

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have been here many times over the last 6 years, ever since my husband (then boyfriend) bought some ugly steaks for our one year anniversary dinner. We have been in to buy meat and twice baked potatoes, which are always amazing, many times. I have never been disappointed by the purchase and the lines have been reasonable. We have also gone in to get sandwiches which have been good 98% of the time so Iām counting that as a win. My most recent visit is the only reason I am removing a star. I ordered ahead knowing the day before thanksgiving would be a crazy day to pick up food. I was hoping this move would decrease my wait time but I was wrong. I got in line and was told, after standing in line for a few minutes, that if I was picking up I had to walk around to the meat counter. I did so and the guy asked my name, so I gave it. He said something to the effect of ok Iāll grab it go ahead and get in line. My heart sank. I was now 4 people further back! He could have asked my name while I was standing there and I wouldnāt have lost my spot. It was insanity! Then when I got to the register she couldnāt find my order. I almost died. I told her I would not be getting out of line again even if they had to re-package a new order. After about a minute she found my items got me checked out. This experience will not stop me from going back but they definitely need a better system for...
