This was my wife and my, second visit to this restaurant (11/27/23) and it was not a good visit. It was like it just opened yesterday. Let's start with the host. I asked for a window (because I have a stigmatism and natural light makes it easier to see) and she tries to seat us in a dark, booth by a wall, next to a window booth. When I requested the next booth with the window, as requested, she roller her eyes and scoffed (WTH). It took about 5 minutes for the server to show up with to ask for our drinks, which seemed a little excessive since they were not busy on a Monday at 1pm, but we were reviewing the menus so, not a big deal. We did order and received most of our order, and we quickly notice we were missing the fries. After trying to flag down the server several times, my wife walked to the kitchen where she had to flag down a cook to help get the attention of our server so we could get our missing fries. No apologies for the missing food but we did get a heaping helping of attitude like it was our fault. We have not been hateful or rude or shown any attitude in the slightest because I always write reviews and I want my attitude to depict the service. At the end of the meal the server asked if I would like a to-go cup for the road. I returned with a, "Yes, please, that would be nice." Refer to the picture of the empty cup, next to the empty drink that was never refilled the whole meal. Now for the food: The ribs were mediocre, not much smokey flavor but plenty of meat on the bone. The potato salad had good flavor but seemed familiar, like something you would buy from Costco or Sam's Club. The bbq sauce was runny and did not seem to have much flavor. It tasted like a spiced up ketchup sauce. The pulled pork was good, nice flavor and moist. The fries were really good also (I am glad my wife went to the kitchen to get them). At this time we noticed we didn't receive a 'set-up' of onions, peppers, and pickles like most other bbq restaurants server. When we asked the server, she stated that you have to request them. How is the customer supposed to KNOW that it doesn't come with them meal and has to be requested if the server doesn't inform the customer? I like the interior and the way the place is set up but the staff make the atmosphere feel a little hostile. It has places with low light for those that want that and seating with plenty of light and windows for those like me, if the host would listen to the customer and seat them where requested. This is not a good place to go if you are really a bbq person. I really don't know how this place has 4 stars. I have had better bbq in downtown, Allentown, PA where authentic southern bbq should not exist. There is a saying that you can tell the leadership by auditing the staff. My audit returns the conclusion that the management blames the customer and the staff is always right. Just get the money and don't bother with service. And for transparency, I left a $6 tip on a $30 bill, and usually I leave no less than $5 for a person service.

We're back in Tulsa this weekend to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Plus, I got tired of everybody at work always taking the weekends for themselves. Like we run trains on banking hours. I wish. My wife and I always like to eat at new and different places whenever we get a chance. There are few things, as far as food, that we won't try. Barbecue is one of our favorites. Kansas City is by far one of our favorite cities for Barbecue. Hard to beat. My daughter said that Albert G's in Tulsa was really decent and you won't leave hungry. So we decided to try it out. There were 5 in our party. We were seated right away. Not bad for a Saturday night. The waitress was quick and had our drinks in a timely manner. Then she dropped the bomb on us. No chicken. Of course, that's what everyone wanted at the table. Except for me. My wife ordered the 3 meat combo with brocolli and a salad. I was hungry, so I ordered the Fat Albert G sandwich with fries. This thing was massive. Smoked bologna, pulled pork, brisket, and a hot link covered by coleslaw. Then, I put a generous portion of spicy barbecue all over it. It's a very messy sandwich, but oh, so delicious. Plenty of paper towels to be had. A good place for iced tea.

I have been burned (pun intended) by so many trendy looking BBQ restaurants, so I was a bit hesitant to stop here while visiting Tulsa. But I made a fantastic choice. First, you can get meat items as a side. Sure, my arteries would have preferred the steamed broccoli, but my curious palette craved just a taste of the ribs and hot links. It is getting increasingly difficult to find good ribs anymore, so I just got it as a side. Would it be too chewy? Not flavorful? Burnt? Too little meat? I was apprehensive as I took my first bite. I'm so conditioned to leather ribs that my teeth smacked together as they sliced through one of the most tender ribs I've ever had. Fall of the bone is overused in reviews, so I will just say the meat delicately dangled from the bone, waiting for the tenderest tug to come falling off. The catfish, excellent. Perfectly crispy without drying out the fish. My only caution is to not assume the red bottle is the hot sauce. It was the clear bottle that had the spicy kick. Not bad, but just unexpected.

What is the first thing you notice when you walk into a BBQ joint? It SHOULD be the smell, not the lack there of. It was so not present that when I walked in, there was nothing to notice, my wife noticed that there was no smell of smoked meat.

So first of all, service was great, I could nit pick at a few things, but I won't, servers are overworked especially now days, so the only reason that they are getting two stars over one is the service.

First let me state, the food was not "bad". I typically only give one star when either the food makes me sick because of poor preparation, or the establishment completely fails at their marketed purpose. Albert G's fails at this in my opinion. I went for barbeque. Not food cooked in an oven with barbequed flavor.

We got an appetizer called G's Debris, this is a good dish, its not BBQ, its fries with brown gravy and cheese curds, sprinkled with some shredded beef cooked in a crock pot (probably). It's GOOD, (maybe not for you) but it had good flavor that melded well together.

This ends the portion of the review where I have good things to say.

First of all they had no potato's for BBQ baked potato's. Potato's keep a while, not sure how you let that get away from you, I guess when you have most of your oven space for cooking meat you can't fit potato's in there regularly.

My wife got a "Brisket Burger" I am assuming they grind brisket to make the patty. Couldn't tell, couldn't sense any smoke meat taste, the only things that gave any hint that there was brisket or BBQ in the burger was the name and the price tag. It was an $11 burger that looked pre molded, as in it was a perfect circle, not smashed or hand formed. I seriously doubt they make the burgers in house. Tasted like something you would get from diner that doesn't specialize in hamburgers, they just threw them on the menu to have something basic.

I got a three meat dinner with ribs, sausage, and sliced brisket, their potato chips, and fried okra.

Fried okra was ok, but it had the same breading and size as other places I get fried okra, so I believe it was frozen and prebreaded. The chips tasted under seasoned and did not come out hot.

The Polish sausage had no marks of being on a grill, sat at the table and lined them up to look for char marks, nothing. Tasted greasy and tasteless, wife and daughter said reminded them of a hot dog. It tastes EXACTLY like Hillshire Farm polish sausage baked in the oven.

I LIKE Hillshire Farm polish sausage baked in the oven, but I EXPECT sausage infused with a smoky flavor, some char cause it was over direct heat, and maybe a split or two when I am at a BBQ joint.

The Brisket and Ribs I picked up and held to my nose. Trying to smell the smoke, got nothing. It was baked with a BBQ rub on it.

EVERYTHING that we ate there, somewhere else has done better, it was not worth the price, cause we did not get what was advertised on the name of the building.

Albert G's Country diner may have gotten 3-4 stars, but Albert G's BBQ gets two, and that is ONLY cause the...

Sunday, abt 6:30: To be clear, Food is 5+ Stars, this Neg comment is ONLY about the tall guy that was behind the bar, taking my order: For some reason I just knew this guy (6 footer, 30 give or take, short hair, ball cap) was not going to be useful. While placing my order ("2 meat sliced brisket & pulled pork, potato salad, coleslaw …no make that double coleslaw") he grimaced when I switched, even though I switched immediately. I had not seen this zero guy before, so while he was punching in the order I mentioned I was Veteran Tax Exempt and Military discount (I have been going to G’s Since They Opened This Location & all the other ‘regular, Great people’ knew me and I was just trying to be helpful with this person. He started saying “we only do one or the other discount I think the military is a little more”. I had my cards out and said “you Only do one?”. Some young GIRL, that I also had never seen before, came up behind him and repeated “only one”. I just left. I am NEVER disappointed if a place does Not offer a Military discount, I do Not have a problem with that, but G's does offer the discount. The 100% Disabled Veteran Tax Exempt Is Okla Statutory Law, Not A Discount & doesn’t cost businesses if they report it as such. Maybe they sold this location and the new owner has a new policy, dunno? If it’s new owners then I hope the food quality doesn’t go down the toilet, like the help I experienced has (hopefully limited to just that one guy). Good bartenders/waiters are Hard to come by & Great ones, like the girls & guys we have experienced there before, are Very hard to come by. BTW, reviews that say the food is Not 5 Star, are Lying. The food has always...
