Let me start by saying, this review is not to be confused with the Albert G'S at Tulsa Hills. Our experience today at the downtown Albert G's was odd & uncomfortable. The visit started with us being seated by a very unfriendly young lady, who is unfortunately our server. I looked up at her to give her my water order & was shocked at the angry glare coming back at me. Myself & my adult son go out to the car to grab a sweater & blanket because it was so cold in there. My husband who is now cold ask if the fan above us could be turned off by a different employee, who gave him an annoyed eye roll. A fan was turned off, but not the one above us. So I kindly let the server know, again an eye roll & the fan was NEVER turned off. Everyone in there was cold. My meat was ok, but our sweet potato waffle fries were so hard & dry, we couldn't even eat them & I couldn't wait to have them. The beans were bland even after I spiced them up with bbq sauce & pepper. I literally stopped eating & had to go outside to warm up. There was obviously some internal employee strife that made it even more uncomfortable. My husband shared this information with the manager who said he was aware it had been going on for two weeks, yet indifferent & laughed. Odd! We like to support downtown Tulsa as often as possible, but we won't be supporting this Albert G's any longer. Visit the Albert G'S in Tulsa Hills instead, they're worth the drive.

Our 15th 'cue stop in Oklahoma, and the 398th nationwide, brought us to the Downtown location. On street parking proved easy at one in the afternoon, and the building was an architectural gem. Be sure and admire the ceiling here! The food had its ups and downs. We ordered a dozen wings, queso and chips, and ribs with okra and broccoli. Two refillable iced teas brought the tab to $55.34 plus a nice tip for good service. The ribs, with their rub leaning to the peppery side, were very good, and needed no help from either of the two sauces on the table. The broccoli was broccoli, but the fried okra was very well done and thoroughly enjoyed. We also liked the brisket queso, and intend to play around with this dish when we get home. Alas, the wings were dry and curiously lacking in flavor; it took generous dollops of the ranch dressing to redeem them. So, a mixed bag, with the ribs and okra solid choices-- and don't forget to pay a visit to the well organized pickle bar!

We drove an hour here for the reviews and photos and unfortunately was disappointed. The waitress we had was extremely nice and so sweet. The bbq sauce on the table was really good. The spicy bbq sauce wasn’t spicy. But it was all still good. I got the Route 66 nachos and they were cold. There was BARELY any brisket. For $11 I was expecting more. I added bbq sauce to mine and along with the salsa it was good. But it wasn’t worth the price. My father in law and husband got a rack of ribs and they were dry!! The potato salad was good but the Mac and cheese tasted like it was from a high school cafeteria. The kids loved their kids meals and our teenage son said his sliced brisket sandwich wasn’t good. It had no flavor. Sad to say we won’t be back. I’m from Texas and have had better. I feel like this place could tweak a few things and it’d be great but it’s definitely not worth the reviews it has.

At the end of the day, Oklahoma has lots of respectable BBQ places, but it's hard to find a place like Albert G's that has the great location, great food, and great service every time. I lived near Tulsa when this location opened in the Blue Dome District in early 2014. Unfortunately, we had to relocate away from Oklahoma a few years back, and this is one of the places that we miss the most. In fact, we bought a case of their awesome BBQ sauces before moving and just ran out a few weeks ago. I went online but could not find a place to restock, so I reached out via their Facebook page. In no time I had a response, and an offer to ship me whatever I needed, to which I quickly placed an order. Normally this type of transaction would not be that big of a deal, but Albert G's does not have an online order website for merchandise or sauces (you can order food online of course!), so the team there actually went out of their way to box up my order and then take it to the USPS to ship it. Now that's customer service! (Hopefully someone can jump on this opportunity and set up an online order spot for merch and sauce. Hint. Hint.) Anyway, I am a creature of habit, and I tend to order the same stuff each visit. I will always be getting the BLT for lunch every time (a pile of thick bacon, thick bread, and a thick sandwich overall!), and for dinner, the 3-meat combo is a no-brainer. (sliced-brisket and hot links are automatics, and then I rotate the smoked bologna and pulled pork for my third choice.) Add in fried okra and coleslaw or baked beans, and you have to roll me away from the table after the meal. While I am not that adventurous, my family has tried about everything else on the menu over the years, and they have never been disappointed. We all agree that the appetizers are amazing, but you have to save a little room for the pickle bar too. The brisket queso & chips are to die for, along with the smoked wings, and Albert G's version of Canadian poutine (G's Debris) will have you addicted. I have actually ordered the latter as my meal from time to time and its combo of fries, gravy, melted cheese curds, and brisket is heaven! Many a day after work, my colleagues and I would find ourselves at a table with cold beers and a spread of the aforementioned apps. That's good livin' right there. I would love to comment about the desserts, but quite frankly, I have never had room after our typical feasts to sample any of them. Anyway, after writing this review, I am now trying to think of the best way to add a stop in Tulsa for lunch or dinner at Albert G's during our next vacation swing down south. WE...

There are few restaurant/bars in Tulsa that I can’t get enough of. Either the items are too expensive, the ambiance isn’t worth dining in, the service is inconsistent or it’s too damn far. But never do I have any of those issues with Albert G’s. I grew up in a single-parent household with 4 brothers and sisters so you could imagine that we didn’t eat out often. My mom knew of many BBQ places in town but she would treat me to Albert G’s on the most special occasions. The food left a huge impression on me as a kid and now, as an adult, I am a stout supporter of this establishment.

I am one of the biggest fans of Albert G’s. I’ve always visited the downtown location but I’ve ordered out from their other branches as well. At this point, I’ve sampled almost everything on their menu – from their meats, sandwiches, and their sides – and I’ve never been disappointed! I enjoy the Nachos as appetizers, very healthy portions are provided every time, and the sliders, no matter which meat you get. A few of my favorite dinner items are the Chopped or Sliced Brisket, Tulsa Style Ribs, and the Turkey Breast. Given Albert G’s reputation, I’m sure the other items are excellent as well! As far as the sides, you can’t go wrong! I really like the sweet potato waffle fries, fried okra, baked beans, mac & cheese, and the potato salad. Lastly, PLEASE visit on Wednesday or Saturday so you can have the Smoked Chicken! I wish it was a regular item on the menu but it’s worth the specialty, truly! The only reason I haven’t had a chance to try their desserts is because I’m usually STUFFED by the time I finish dinner!

Outside of the food, I am consistently pleased by the atmosphere of the restaurant. There’s always a host ready and available to seat you. There’s a diversity of seating options – booths, high-tops & a bar. Outside of the TV’s that’re usually playing a sport of some sort, the place is soothingly quiet. I’ve never had a bad experience with service, ever. From the host, to the bartender to the server(s). In addition, the bar is fully serviced. The bartender can make any type of cocktail but also has a solid knowledge on the beers in-house, seasonal or not.

For the reasons stated above, I keep this establishment in a tight rotation. I try to visit at least once per month, or more, throughout the year. I don’t know who the owner is but I’d like to sincerely thank Mr. Albert G! This restaurant makes me proud to...

I gave them 3 stars because 2.5 isn't an option... First of all, the service & atmosphere are great. The BBQ on the other hand, is very disappointing. Maybe this is just an Oklahoma thing but I really hope it's not. They trim 💯 of the fat from their meat prior to smoking. If this is your preference, you'll love their meat. If you're like me and love the flavor and tenderness of Traditional BBQ, you'll be highly disappointed. I'm from Texas and stayed in Tulsa for 2 weeks for work. I came to Albert G's 2 times to get takeout during my stay. The first night, I ordered 1 lb of sliced brisket and asked that it be from the Point, which is the fatty side. When I got back to my hotel room and opened up the box, I was shocked to find that they gave me 💯 trimmed brisket. The meat was dry and not very flavorful. The absolute ONLY thing that saved my meal was their BBQ sauce, which is VERY good. I loved both the Sweet & Spicy BBQ sauce! I went back a few nights later to give them another shot. I figured that my order was misunderstood and they thought I didn't want any fat on my meat. When I placed my order for the same 1 lb of sliced brisket, I told them about my previous experience and asked that they please make sure I get the correct meat this time. This is when I was finally told that they 💯 trim the fat off their meat prior to smoking it. Had I known this, I wouldn't have wasted a 2nd meal here. I canceled the Brisket and opted for Smoked Turkey, since it's a dryer meat anyways. The turkey was ok but it's definitely not my meat of choice. There again, the only thing that saved my 2nd meal was their BBQ.

This is just my opinion, but good BBQ does NOT need BBQ sauce, just like a good steak doesn't need any sort of...
