I am so glad we were here on opening day to express our admiration toward this exceptional Artist. Thank you to all who made this happen. We had tickets that allowed entry at a specific time but, once you are in, you can stay as long as you like. We were there close to 3 hours but, I could have stayed for 10 or 12! The interactive displays were fantastic! The music chosen for this installment was top notch. I discovered many things I did not know about Bob Dylan. Like, did you know...he never threw away a single piece of paper? Nor did he crumple up any of his drafts. He holds the largest collection of handwritten lyrics! Wow! I also didn't know he was a painter and sculpturer. What talent this man displayed. It is unfortunate that his followers didn't always see the creative transformations this talent man went through as he crafted this beautiful legacy of sight and sound which will be here long after he or I are around! Thank you so much for this installation. I will talk about this for the rest of my life and encourage others to have this...
Read moreIf you are a dedicated fan, as I am, this is a bucket list destination. Admission includes an IPod and headset, which are musts. The collection is well-curated and lends itself to roaming in any order you like. Much of the material (and, of course, all Bob's music) has appeared elsewhere over his long career, but seeing it in one place is special. Staff are friendly and helpful. I never felt rushed. Metered street parking is very convenient. The Dylan and Woody Guthrie Centers are closely linked, and give a great sense of how Bob and Woody are related creatively and how Bob has continued many of Woody's themes. I found the virtual reality exhibit on the Dust Bowl at the Guthrie Center especially informative and immersive. I spent two days at the centers, but, like I said, I'm a long-time, dedicated fan. I also really liked the offering of books for sale, especially those focused on the...
Read moreExcellent museum, I thought the exhibits were set up pretty nicely. You started with his early career, working your way around to his status today. There were several free standing exhibits focusing on various songs and moments. Since I personally think Tangled Up In Blue is his greatest I spent a lot of time at this exhibit. You could easily spend a few hours here, every loop I made, I discovered a new photograph, or piece of lyric Bob wrote. I came from Kansas City, a three and half hour drive. I had a couple of other places I wanted to see so it was on the way, If you are within an hour or two drive of Tulsa, make a detour. It is a very classy operations and to see Bob Dylan's two story metal work of art at the entry shows the depth of his talent. Seeing the film on the second floor of some of his early performance was fun....
