Intro - This Happy Teriyaki is the best one for miles, with tasty food and great value. The service is fine, though nothing special, and the atmosphere is generic, but the food speaks for itself. My beloved and I like cooking, but sometimes it is just not convenient. This store is a go-to for those lazy nights.
A Couple of Things to Note - #1: Expect to be paying typical restaurant prices for the area. A beef teriyaki (always make it spicy) or yakisoba chicken is $13-$14. #2: Expect to be getting PLENTY of food. I am a serious eater, and one $13-$14 order can last me 3-4 meals. My beloved gets 5 meals out of them. Three or four dollars a serving for restaurant food is an incredible price for the area. You would expect that with prices like that, the quality of the food would be sub-par. This is not the case.
Dining-in VS. Takeout - With this restaurant, I would honestly recommend take-out. Don't get me wrong; the dining experience is not bad. But the food is clearly designed for takeout. It is great fresh, but is often just as good reheated. When dining in, you mostly just order and sit down. There is no real "waiter/waitress" experience. Rather, you generally sit down, eat, and leave without being checked up on once. In short, this place is perfect for take-out.
Quality & Recommendations - The dish I usually get is the spicy teriyaki beef. This is a simple spicy beef, white rice, and vegetable dish, but it is excellently done. This is one of those dishes that just doesn't get old. My beloved opts for the yakisoba chicken. This is a great choice for those who prefer chicken over beef.
Overall - This restaurant is a great value for your money, and with their late hours and big portions, is the...
Read moreI have been eating at Happy teriyaki for over 20 years... I came in on a Friday August 12th 2022 at 9:37 p.m.... The girl working had all the open signs turned off. I asked her if she was still open she said that I could not dine in but I could order to go, she said this very frustrated. I said: I'm sorry if you want I can go somewhere else. She then rudely said: I'll take your order after I check on this other guys food. Long story short she was rude, unfriendly and made me feel unwelcome and unfortunately this restaurant has lost my business forever. So the moral of the story? Decent overpriced food with rude bad service. MESSAGE TO THE GIRL WORKING: I WORKED IN RESTAURANTS FOR 15 YEARS YOU NEVER GET OFF AT YOUR SCHEDULED TIME IF YOU THINK YOU GET OFF AT YOUR SCHEDULE TIME YOU SHOULD NOT WORK IN THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS!!! CUSTOMERS DO NOT CARE THAT YOU WANT TO GO HOME AND WATCH NETFLIX OR GO OUT TO THE BAR OR GO OUT WITH YOUR BOYFRIEND OR WHATEVER YOUR THERE TO SERVE PEOPLE THAT'S WHY IT IS CALLED CUSTOMER...
Read moreMy wife and I enjoy dining out usually in Olympia area restaurants. We visit Happy Teriyaki #5 weekly. They have a handicap parking space near the front door and it is a short walk for my wife in her walker. Tonight we found the space occupied by a vehicle with no handicap plates or placard. We asked the counter staff if they by chance knew who's owned the Volvo parked in the handicap space. Staff pointed out a fellow staff member but indicated her disbelief it was a handicap space. We pointed out it was clearly marked "handicap". When we departed, the illegally parked vehicle remained unmoved. Folks, walk a mile in someone else's shoes. Using a walker on icy surfaces is not fun. Walking across a lain of traffic in a parking lot is Hazzardous. Don't most businesses ask staff to not park near the entrance to better accommodate customers? Allowing staff who do not qualify for handicap parking, to do so, makes no since. Well count us as...
