Read moreAsked the server how fresh the tamales were. He told me they cooked them this morning. Took one bite, rock hard tamales. How?
The only way that's possible is to freeze-burn it and microwave it. Which, by the 3 minute serve time, I'm guessing that's what happened. If I had to guess, that tamale was made a month ago at best.
Couldn't even chew it (1st time for everything) it was so bad that I had to spit it into my napkin like Gordon Ramsey on kitchen nightmares. I always thought he was being dramatic... Perhaps not!
My coworkers' tacos were also dry and clearly seasoned with packets. His bagged ingredient toppings and canned beans were also not only unpleasant to look at, I think he ate the meal to be polite.
Salsa was milky in appearance. I didn't even want to attempt it. Coworker tried it and nearly broke his tooth on the chip and said the salsa tasted funny. (Wonder why, it's not supposed to be milky)
Food: (inedible)
Service: (lied to me) I saw him pause and look on his face when I asked about the tamales. Bad liar.
He at least (giving him little deserved credit) didn't charge me anything for my meal when I got up immediately and asked for my check...
He then poorly lied to me again, stating: "Sorry, they were reheated today, not made today. They, (blaming it on the kitchen) didn't tell me that. "
Atmosphere: felt like a very dirty convenience store, with a grocery store to the left, and a dive bar to the right. 6/10 or so tables in the main dining area had crumbs and dried food splatter on them at 11 am on an empty restaurant. They obviously don't clean the night before, or ever. The stained corners and dusty shelves confirmed it.
Unless you like two week old, poorly microwaved food, from a dirty restaurant, I would not recommend this place.
Check out my reviews, I'm pretty sure this is my first 1 star ever. They deserved it. If I could give them zero stars, I would. I'm very fair and honest, and this place I can not give any sort of credit to. They need to...
Read more01.17.23 I went in the Mexican store on Tuesday because I heard they have a Taco Tuesday deal. When I walked in it was very busy and there were a lot of Hispanic customers and employees.
It was a good vibe and most people were speaking Spanish. Then I went to the counter to order the Taco Tuesday deal. The employee who was at the register to ring me up is the General Manager (GM) of the store.
Before I was about to place my order, one of her co-workers was telling her something in Spanish right next to me.
Then, I told the GM in fluent Spanish that I wanted the Taco Tuesday deal. Unfortunately, the GM responded only in English. Then I left without ordering because she was not conversing with me in Spanish. Because the GM refused to respond to me in Spanish, I called to file a complaint, because that is close to racism, and unfortunately the GM was the same person at the register.
She told me there are words in Spanish/English that people do not understand, emphasizing that I would not understand her if she responded in Spanish. Ultimately, it was poor customer service and very judgmental.
01.24.23 Today I went to the Mexican store in the morning to give it a second chance. The dine-in was pretty empty so I sat down and the waiter came to me. He was very polite and after he greeted me, I replied in Spanish that I would like to use Spanish. He responded to me in Spanish and so I was already feeling more comfortable. My order was three chicken tacos and there were chips and salsa as a side. Chips were fresh, salsa medium chunky, and the tacos were delicious. Best part of the experience this time was the excellent customer service and tasty...
