I rarely give negative reviews, especially to small businesses, but this experience felt misleading and like false advertising. The menu clearly showed a “pastry bundle box” that included:
• 3 egg tarts • 2 cookies • 2 macarons • 1 cream puff
The bundle seemed like a great deal, which is why we decided to order it. However, when we tried to complete our order at the self-service kiosk, we encountered multiple issues. The machine wouldn’t let us proceed without adding additional charges, claiming the regular egg tarts were sold out. Additionally, the macarons were missing from the options.
When I asked a clerk for help, he was quick to brush me off since there was a line, telling me they still had egg tarts and advising me to select the ones with the extra charges (50 cents each), promising to refund the difference later. I assumed he would also account for the missing macarons, as they were listed in the bundle on the menu. But when our order arrived, the macarons were missing, which was especially disappointing since we visited specifically for them.
When I raised this with the staff again, I was told the menu was outdated, and they no longer sell macarons. I asked if they could substitute something else, but he refused and suggested that it was my responsibility to double-check the kiosk, even though he had initially helped us with it.
This experience felt like outright false advertising. As a small business, it’s important to ensure that what’s advertised matches what’s actually available, and not to shift blame onto customers. Although the food and overall atmosphere were enjoyable, this interaction left a negative impression, and I doubt we’ll be back. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes that the owner addresses these issues to prevent similar experiences for...
Read moreWhile the D.C. area may never have the plethora of quality boba places like California does, Teas'n You is a step in the right direction. Prior to their opening, my one stop shop for boba was Kung Fu Tea which has exploded in the area. It's always nice to have a little bit of healthy competition though.
I will need to come back and evaluate Teas'n You on their traditional milk tea boba drinks, as I ordered the sea salt jasmine tea last time I was here. I wasn't in love with my drink, as I felt that there was way too much creaminess and the tea seemed oversteeped. However, I did appreciate the attempt to balance between sweet and creamy and I think it can be remedied with an adjustment to the sweetness level.
The special teas include other drinks such as mango tango, cucumber winter melon, acai breeze, caramel green tea macchiato (will have to try this one!), and white rose cream tea (also have to try!).
All teas are $3.95 for the regular size and $4.75 for a large. You can add an assortment of toppings from the classic boba to apple jelly, lychee jelly, sea salt cream, grass jelly, aloe vera, chia seeds, and even fruit bits. Toppings are $0.50 per add-on. You can also adjust the sweetness level of your drink.
In addition to boba, they have baked goods like macarons and doughssants and saltier snacks like garlic truffle fries.
The staff is very friendly here. They let you sample different teas and will remake your drink if you don't find it to your liking. It seems that they are really about ensuring the perfect drink for everyone. The only downside is that there are not a lot of tables, which is a shame because the interior is beautifully decorated and worth the time to sit...
Read moreFeels like Teas'n You planned a well-thought-out, palette-tickling mix of menu items. Fundamentally, the menu does not feel contrived like most other Asian tea and snack fusion establishments are. Teas'n You has a fixed selection of well-planned drinks (many of them rather unique and original) and doesn't offer an option for build-your-own Frankenstein boba drink. The snacks and pastries selection offers unique pairings that have me planning for return trips.
Seriously, who else have these delicious items: -- Taiwanese popcorn chicken .... probably the most succulent morsels of breaded chicken I have ever had compared to other establishments. -- 'The 'Dark Side' vietnamese coffee drink ..... this is not the regular vietnamese coffee, the body & taste is much heavier and would likely satisfy those coffee addicts. -- Gigantor cream puffs ...... and I mean big, monster, fist-size cream puffs with 90% cream, not 90% air. These are definitely worth their weight in value with unique flavors from matcha to ube to earl grey. Just look at the pics; these are nearly the same size if not bigger and most certainly heavier than McDonald quarter pounder or a Wendy's double double. -- Macarons ..... not just any macarons since these come in Ferrero Rocher, Lychee, Coconut Taro, Viet Coffee flavors that I typically can't find anywhere else.
The formula for this Asian tea + snack fusion place is just right. I will be coming...
