The first then I said when I walked in was that it reminded me of No. 1 Kitchen in Milford. It is basically the same setup. The lady at the front spoke with a thick Chinese accent and is from Fujian.
There are a small number of tables in the front area, and a fridge with bottled beverages.
The prices were surprisingly reasonable for many things, and the number of dumplings (8 wonton) and shumai (6) is more generous than most places.
The garden salad, which is composed of iceberg lettuce, julienned carrots and a ginger sauce, was nice tasting.
It's a good thing that they provide yum yum sauce and sweet soy sauce with green onions in it, although not enough so get some of the pre-packaged sweet-sour sauce, Chinese mustard and soy sauce.
The wontons were filled with what I assume was pork, and there was very little flavor to them, but they were standard size.
The shumai (siomay in Indonesia) were a bit sweet and I could detect a small amount of what I presume was shrimp in them, but they lacked flavor overall. They were a bit smaller than I had expected, too.
I also got the house soup, which is a vegetable broth with a few slices of green onion and mushrooms floating in it, which was similarly lackluster.
The spring roll that came with my son's Hibachi Shrimp mostly tasted of the cabbage in it, and almost half of the volume was the wrap.
His fried rice tasted gross and he dumped a bunch of soy sauce on it. The shrimp was fresh and tasted ok, and the veggies tasted good.
I got vegetable lo mein. The veggies tasted nice but they didn't use lo mein noodles and the noodles had a slightly unpleasant flavor that reminded me of the Hibachi fried rice. I had to dump most of my cup of soy sauce on it to make it palatable.
The fortune cookies were standard. I have to wonder what they call them in China: American fortune cookies, perhaps?
Overall, the bill was just under $40 and the food filled us up so, I guess if all you care about is dumping sauce on weakly or badly flavored food to fill your belly, this is a good choice.
If, however, you enjoy quality Chinese cuisine, like I do, keep looking and PLEASE let me know where to find the best! I haven't found it! (So far, No. 1 Kitchen and May Thai, both in Milford, are probably at the top of the LOCAL list,...
Read moreFalse advertising!!!! How they can call what they served me hibachi is beyond anything I can explain! It was nothing more than regular Chinese food! And not even good Chinese food. It smelled so so bad! I couldn't even stand the smell of our entirely full To-go containers even being in my kitchen garbage can!!!! I had to take the bag outside hoping that would get rid of the smell but unfortunately it did not!!! Don't waste your money and definitely don't get your hopes up if you do decide to waste your money and eat here. You will be...
Read moreClassic Chinese takeout spot. Absolutely bomb “hibachi” steak with sauce, veggies and rice. The sesame chicken is a good choice as well. The food here is ALWAYS fresh made to order. Take out for atmosphere- there are two tables to eat on for a quick lunch but it’s not a romantic date spot. But that’s not what you’re here for. You’re here for a quick Chinese takeout. Staff is direct and great for...
