My husband and I went through the drive thru about midnight tonight (8/6/21). The line was a little long, but not terrible. The employee taking our order said that their name was Patricia. We put our order in and pulled up to the window. A male was at the window. He had a double band tattooed on his forearm. He said " You got the two breakfast toast sandwiches and all that jazz." As we drive off we realized that we were missing our hashbrowns and cheese sauce that we had ordered. We tried to go into the store, but the doors were locked, so we waited in the drive thru line for almost another half an hour. When we got up to the window we let them know what we were missing. The male employee walked away from the window as my husband was explaining what we were missing. As he walked away a female employee, im assuming was the manager, stared at us through the window. She finally came over and asked what we were missing. My husband described in detail our order and explained again what we were missing. She asked us to pull around while they made the missing hashbrowns. When the employee ( same male employee running drive thru) brought us our hasbrowns he handed them to my husband and immediately turned around to go back into the building. No apology, no you're welcome, no nothing. The two employees that we dealt with were extremely unprofessional and rude. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years from server to General manager. I would be extremely embarrassed if I were running this store. Something needs to be done to properly train this staff in...
Read moreIt has been probably over 30 years since I've eaten White Castle sliders and fries. No White Castles in Richmond VA where I've lived since 1989. I'm now a vegetarian and was told the the veggie burger was delicious. It's supposed to be an "Impossible Burger". The texture was very mushy!!! No little minced onion as I recall on the original and cheese meat versions. Also I recall the fries being shoestring-not any more. They are crinkle cut. I've never liked crinkle cut fries. I was extremely disappointed!! What a waste of money. Also there was no one at the counter. (This was the Eastgate location in/near Batavia Ohio. Granted there is road construction going on directly in front of this location. So I could understand just a little, it would be slow and no one at the counter for like a minute. But not gone for 5 minutes.) I stood there for 5 minutes at noon! I finally called out "Hello!! Anyone here!!!" Thank goodness there aren't any White Castle restaurants in my neck of the woods. I was gong to suggest they sell the vegetarian sliders in grocery stores like they do the regular ones. Richmond is a strong vegetarian and vegan area. I thought they might do well in Richmond, as expats would enjoy a taste of home. But, alas if the veggie burger is truly that awful, they shouldn't make it available in grocery stores like Kroger, Publix,...
Read moreThis White Castle is fantastic. The food is fresh, the employees are friendly, and the place is relatively clean. It used to not be so great, but over the years it's gotten much better. I always go in the early morning and order lunch/dinner food. There aren't many restaurants in the area that will serve lunch food during breakfast hours, so it's nice that this place does.
As far as the food goes...it's White Castle. Small sandwiches are their specialty, especially the standard "Slider;" a small, thin, square-shaped beef patty on white bun, with diced grilled onions and a pickle. The burgers owe their distinctly tender texture to being are steamed rather than grilled.
These burgers have gained a cult following for good reason: they're delicious! If you've ever eaten a burger from Krystal, this is similar (but not the same!) White Castle is polarizing, like many Cincinnati favorites. You either love it or hate it. If you love it, like my wife and I do, do yourself a favor and try this location - you...
