Initially, when Tikka Grill opened, May 2018, the gyros were good, and Zane, the owner was friendly. As time progressed Zane hired other cooks and the quality of the gyro diminished. I mentioned this observation a month ago to Zane. He put together our order and it was good. On January 17, 2019, we ordered a gyro, a Philly Steak and one drink. This was the third time we ordered food when Zane was not there and the gyro was substandard. This was the third time I had to ask them to make the gyro so it looks like the gyro Zane makes. The young girl was at a loss as to what to do...she offered to put tomatoes on it. The yellow lettuce looked dreadful, the cook just pointed to her and didn't want to get involved. I asked for a refund and money for the gyro was returned.
Today, Jan. 21, 2019, Zane was available so I showed him the photo of the gyro, on the left, that was made for me on Jan. 17th which wasn't appetizing...lacking tomatoes, green lettuce and obviously lamb. I said when he isn't there the quality of the gyro goes downhill as shown by the photo. He said he "analyzed" the gyro I was given and it was a standard gyro, even though it lacked tomatoes and green lettuce. I said, it doesn't look like the photos of gyros he has present in advertising photos. He said, "Those are only photos." He picked up the advertising photo to the right and threw it to the side on the counter. Stopping for a quick bite to eat before shopping at Jungle Jim's should be a pleasant experience; Tikka Grill lacks consistent quality and isn't a friendly place to stop. I would not recommend...
Read moreThe food was nasty. I’ve never had rice that tasted like literal water before. Absolutely no seasoning, just yellow. I had the falafel rice plate with the salad. The salad was lukewarm and the dressing was not good. The white sauce was this bitter really disgusting tasting sauce that made my tongue and stomach curl. They only thing that was actually edible were the falafels and that’s because they’re premade and just fried there. I’m not from that area we wanted to go check out the international market this restaurant is in and decided to try the food. I’ve have plenty of Mediterranean food where I live in NY so I know what good Mediterranean food is supposed to taste like and that was not it, not even by an inch. If I could give this place negative stars I would. Customer service and atmosphere are not really much of a concern to me. As long as the place looks clean and sanitary, I would try the food, but this is just next level. Especially for it being in a huge international supermarket. Idk why they have so many good reviews. If you don’t believe pls go try their watery rice and then come back and like my message lol Ps: the meat can’t be the only thing that has any flavor in a plate. That’s not okay to the tastebuds...
Read moreFood ok, staff awful
2-3 stars for ok food, 1 or less star for staff. Not sure if they expect more than a couple customers after 6 pm on Sundays, but doesn't seem so. Shorty after looking at menu, around 6:30, trying to sit down and waiting for my wife getting off work just the other side of eastgate/clepper, was told back half of eat/bar area(by female cook) was shut down and confirmed by a male. They got busy and I did not see anyone else confronted even after we moved to a tasting table to get away from the k rudeness and the "closed" side that was full of people.
Wife had to wait 5-10 or minutes for her gyro after the rest of or $35+ was ready for some reason. Wife said the girl cooking the food kept telling the one talking orders to turn the light off and stop taking orders. This was several minutes after we finally got our food, looking at my cellphone it was only 6:57 pm. And not sure why you offer salads and not ask for dressing preference.
Lamb on a spit is the only reason for the second star. Eventually I will go for a lamb gyro, light tzat, and will increase star based on...
