It has been just a bit more than a year since I returned to Cincinnati after having been gone for 25 years. So happy to be back!
After settling into my apartment, I wanted to start looking for a new bedroom set.
This review is my story of my journey through the difficult process of choosing, then buying furniture. It is a story that starts out as a nightmare and ends with such happiness, thanks to Ryan Storts and his team collaborators at Furniture Fair, Eastgate.
The journey starts in November At first I decided I would order a Mid-Century modern bedroom set from West Elm. Total cost was about $5K. I made the decision to order online. I ordered the bed frame, nightstand and armoire. After waiting nearly 3 months, both the Armoire and dresser was delivered damaged. At the same time the Armoire was going to be replaced a new dresser was delivered and, once again, it was damaged. Now you wonder how is it that the dresser could be delivered damaged once again? Because one of the delivery people dropped it on the concrete when attempt to unload from the truck. After several conversations with customer service, I made the decision to send everything back.
Here it is, February, and I have to start all over again. This time I decided to go with Anthropology. I ordered another Mid Century modern style bed frame, dresser and nightstand. This time I went directly to the store and the customer service person could not have been nicer. Sadly, this purchase did not work out either. Why? Because Anthropology kept sending me emails that the delivery will be delayed. Now bear in mind this order was placed in February, due to arrive at my place by May or end of June, and the last email I received in May said there will be another delay in delivery "October or November". I cancelled this order as well.
I had been in contact with Ryan since November when I move back to Cincinnati and I had already had collaborations with Ryan regarding purchasing a piece of furniture for my TV. We decided on a beautiful farmhouse style TV stand from Ashley. We have been in touch regularly ever since.
The truth is I should have collaborated with Ryan about bedroom furniture right way, but I was so hung up on buying from West Elm or Anthropology - big mistake!
So in May I called Ryan and we start collaborating on bedroom furniture right away. He asked a lot of questions and made note of my preferences. Natural wood, emissions free, beautiful style/quality design, made in USA. He began his research and sent me email after email about the 3 best choices he would recommend. We continued to collaborate and we hit the jackpot with Archbold Furniture.
This time I actually went out to the store because he had the furniture there for me to see. It was even more beautiful in person.
I bought the Archbold "2West" platform bed, night stand and tall 5-draw dresser. Ryan put the order through in May, he said I would get the furniture in 8 to 12 weeks and it did. The delivery was the first week in August and it was flawless, furniture is gorgeous and I am so happy.
Once the bedroom furniture arrived, we began collaboration on a couch. Once again I came to the store and found my dream couch. We decided on the Michael Nicholas "G3" collection - just gorgeous. This collection gave me the density and depth of the seat cushions I wanted. In addition, you can decide what size couch you would like, choosing from a variety of pieces and sizes.
We ordered the couch at the end of August and it arrived two days before my birthday, on October 29.
As I sit on my couch and share my journey with all of you, I feel such peace and happiness. Ryan stuck by me through what was such a stressful situation. And in the midst of all of this we did have great fun.
If you are contemplating a furniture purchase, I would recommend you call Furniture Fair Eastgate and ask for Ryan Storts.

Read moreMy husband and I have been repeat customers at Furniture Fair and have been happy with our purchases until now. We recently had a dresser delivered for our new baby's nursery, and it came with enough dents, scratches, and dings that I had nine pictures to send to customer service. It also came directly off of the truck with no apparent protection during transit and covered in dirty black smudges from the delivery crew.
I tried to give the benefit of the doubt in contacting customer and ask if perhaps I had been delivered a floor model instead and was quickly met with rudeness and an unwillingness to help by Jessica (Furniture Fair - would really recommend moving her to a non-customer facing role) in customer care, citing that I did not call within a three-day happiness policy that was not mentioned by the sales rep we ordered from or anywhere in the paperwork we received. I was bounced from customer care to sales and back to customer care. They were unclear about what would or would not be covered by guarantees vs. the extended warranty we purchased. We have a technician coming to look at the damage next week with no indication that they can or will fix anything, and it seems we are will now have to invest a lot of time and energy into correcting an issue with a piece of furniture that should have been delivered in new condition to begin with, all while in a busy season of work and preparing for a new baby.
Buyer beware, and read all of the policies on their website before you order anything. This has definitely soured my opinion on Furniture Fair and makes me want to go somewhere else when we need new furniture in other rooms of our home.
Update: I finally spoke with someone who said their techs could repair the damage. They picked up the dresser and returned it a week later in worse condition with spots that appeared to be sanded down to the wood but not refinished, additional dents, and without repairing the primary damage. As I enter my third trimester of pregnancy, I am now waiting to see if Furniture Fair can deliver a replacement that is actually in good condition or if I will need to get a refund and scramble to find a dresser from another store and gave it delivered in time. The customer service representative I spoke with most recently had the nerve to try to upsell me on a dresser, suggesting that I should pay more to get Amish-made furniture that may or may not arrive in time as though it is unreasonable for customers to expect furniture at this price point to arrive without damage.
If I could take my original rating down to zero or one...

My information will be in your system, it was the last time I stopped in. I would be happy to update my post if you're actually interested in addressing my experience with your company.
Short story, check online if you're thinking about buying anything from Furniture Unfair. Guaranteed you can find it cheaper from someone else.
Tried so many times to give these folks a second chance. The last experience I had was trying to buy a 6k+ bedroom suite they were selling for over 9k. Asked them to match the online price of either one of two other stores in Ohio who sell the same line and advertise it cheaper on their site. Their sale stated "guaranteed lowest price" plus 10% off and free delivery. I guess that only applies if you're willing to pay the 1/3rd premium they put on everything for buying from them. All they would do is beat the price by 5$ for each piece, no other discounts, nor would they deliver it. They claimed matching the price eliminated any sale or guarantees, I'm still trying to figure that one out.
Their insurance policies for furniture aren't worth it, because chances are they won't have your furniture when it's time for replacement. The one and only purchase I made from them I was forced to take the insurance payout when furniture was damaged and they no longer sold the line I had bought. BTW, you only get a percentage of total cost. It was custom ordered Flex Steel furniture. After days of fabric choices in what they told me was their new line that replaced Flex Steel, I was asked to pay almost 2k more than I had originally because the sale I received on my original order they were unwilling to meet the same pricing.
Never again...
