I went to Vacaville’s Mendocino Farms last week for my to go sandwich & soup and went again today for my dine in birthday dinner. Not all bday celebrations have to be at a fancy restaurant to be memorable and pleasurable. Mendocino just kicked off their summer seasonal menu and I had never had any of their offerings, so I tried the peaches and goat cheese salad, (a total must try for those looking for a refresh in their salad line up) while hubby had the steak chimichurri. (Which he told me he enjoyed because steak is never a mistake in his eyes! lol) The staff here has great energy—so warm, courteous and helpful, not only to the customers they serve, but to each other as I saw the manager on duty, Sierra, working the kitchen and helping the front line and Carmina who normally works my salad to go, was serving our food in the dining room today. (Her name was on the side of my bag last week as I saw her nametag) The service here is team oriented, so you’ll get your food before you can get off your phone (that’s often my case I suppose!) My husband liked the grass patches and wood benches in the dining area that give it farm feels. I absolutely enjoyed my bday dinner here and we’ll be back soon to try cashier Edgar’s favorite prosciutto and peaches sandwich (their nametag gives you a pro tip!) Vacaville’s Mendo definitely does not disappoint. I am a fan. High five and...
Read moreMy family and I came in to Mendocino Farms for dinner on a Saturday evening around 7pm. The restaurant was not busy, so we were able to order right away. Most of the sides and a couple other items were sold out for the day. The menu also showed a few items are going away soon (last chance).
Food: Chimichurri Steak and Bacon Sandwich: delicious, I like the flavor of the chimichurri sauce and the toasted sesame roll. Peruvian Steak Sandwich: wasn’t spicy, toasted potato roll was good, sauce was not as tasty as the chimichurri sandwich. Roasted Tomato-Basil Soup: delicious blend of tomato and basil flavors, but neither is over-powering the other. Thai Mango Salad: nice blend of veggies with ramen noodles underneath and crunch from the almonds and crispy shallots, Thai almond dressing was delicious. Mendo’s Original Pork Belly Banh Mi Sandwich: nice twist on the traditional Vietnamese Banh mi sandwich was delicious with a nice blend of traditional and non-traditional flavors on panini-pressed ciabatta.
Overall, a great place to get freshly made salads, soups and sandwiches with pleasant employees. You do need to wait 15 or so minutes (longer if busy) as everything is...
Read moreToday was our first time eating at Mendocino Farms. What can we say? The customer service received from Willis was exceptional. We were greeted with a smile with a positive vibe and energetic personality. He ensured to give great suggestions on the food. We ordered the pork belly banh mi. When we asked for the Oaxacan potato salad and were informed they were out, Willis ensured to offer a sample of the macaroni salad. Which by the way, is delicious. The macaroni was cooked just right and the condiments uses to season it, had just the right amount of spice.
Once we received our sandwich, we enjoyed every flavor it carried. The spiciness of the jalapeños, the sweetness of the sauce. The crunching of the carrots and cucumbers, plus the tenderness of the pork belly, were all the perfect combination for a delicious sandwich. By the way, our food was a bit delayed due to a kitchen error that was quickly resolved by an offering of their soup. Keeping the flavors of the food in mind, we will be returning customers. How can we not. Mendocino Farms offers great food and...
