āļøāļøUpdateāļøāļø This place has LOST us as customers. One of the main servers (older one) wears the same gloves ALL day. I witnessed him blowing his nose INTO his glove over the sink thats by the register then gave his glove a very quick rinse to rinse the snot off. No soap, no napkin, no change of gloves then walked right over to put all of the clean silverware in the drawers by the serving window and serve people their FOOD and drinks. Before we left we also witnessed him blow his nose again but this time into a paper towel, then grab all of the clean plates while the paper was still in his hands, THEN used that sammmmmeee paper towels to wipe down the counter where they serve YOUR water and bag up to go orders. We slowly have stopped coming here over the years because of questionable things we've encountered here but seeing this today confirms that we will NEVER be back!!! This is their standard in front of costumers, can you imagine what goes on when no one is looking?!?! Stay away from this place! The tasty broth is not worth it! (We confronted him about all that and he denied it!)
So much to say about this place, first off it is the best pho in the high desert. It is so incredibly tasty, leaves you feeling full and satisfied. They do not skimp on meat and vegetables! They have so many great options for everyone, even vegan! They don't only have pho, their other menu items are also always delicious. The service is also not bad at all the way people make it seem, on days that are not too busy they are on it. Days that they are slammed, the service does lack, it's not slow with the food, it's always the drinks or something extra you asked for. In my opinion, they are under staffed with servers. Overall, I would give it a try if...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was delicious, but the service and people that work there were unbelievably rude. My husband and I ordered 4 Pho bowls and made sure to ask for 2 to be small, as our sons are 7. We were not asked about drinks, the guy just grunted 'water' and then sped off. We received our appetizer and food in a very timely manner, but the bowls for our sons were clearly not smalls. We did not bring this to anyone's attention, because we would just take leftovers home, but when we asked for to-go containers a different guy literally rolled his eyes at us, shook his head and shoved the containers at me. We were nothing but respectful, didn't ask for any substitutions and always said 'thank you' to the guys that came to the table (when they actually came to the table). When my husband went to pay they showed him the receipt, did not hand to him, and then took it back. My husband said there was and additional 10+ dollar charge on our receipt and asked what it was, but all the guy said was that the total was the total and wouldn't hear anything else about it. We never got to see the receipt again, as they wouldn't give it to us, so we can only guess that the 10+ extra was an instant gratuity (lucky for them as they most definitely were not getting a tip!) Again, food was good, but we will never be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice people here who work very hard to please their customers. I hate to criticize their food, but I'm afraid if I don't then they will not improve. I'm Vietnamese and travel frequently to Vietnam and Little Saigon, so my palette is perhaps more accustomed to authentic Vietnamese cuisine than most who come to Pho Van.
They short the meats in the pho. Almost entirely noodles and veggies with a little meat in it for flavoring. Even the bun cha was light on the pork and the focus of that dish supposed to be on the pork. My wife and mother, who are both Vietnamese, were not impressed either. I'm sure the non-Vietnamese would not notice the difference and thus why key ingredients were skimped, but we certainly do notice and we would rather drive to San Bernardino or Orange County for decent more authentic Vietnamese food.
I hope Pho Van accepts this criticism constructively and adjusts their dishes accordingly. I would love to have good, authentic Vietnamese food locally than having to drive...
