Double check your receipt before paying! Always question your server!
Came in for the lunch special menu today before 4 pm. I ordered first, and then my husband finished ordering, and the waitress added how the soup was included and started listing the soup choices. I thought it was weird since on the menu, it was either fries or salad, and soup was extra. My husband ordered the french onion soup, and I didn't. I ignored it. When the check came, we were charged for the french onion soup, and our orders were not priced right for the lunch special. The waitress said that she had failed to mention it was extra even though she said it was included in what my husband ordered, and she made the mistake. At that point, I was silently furious. She came back with a new check: fixed the orders to lunch special price but then doubled the order for the soup. She did not take it out the first time, even though she failed to mention it was extra. She looked at it again and then said she'll have the manager fix it again. Came back, and everything was good except the soup was still there. I don't like making a scene since we are all adults. In the end, we paid and left. Mind you, the restaurant was not at all too busy; probably three tables being served with one table being large, celebrating a bday. Our waitress failed to give us two condiment containers for the ketchup and bbq sauce. And, she also almost forgot the to go cup for my husband's soda if I had not mentioned it before leaving.
The manager was wandering around, but unlike all the other Outback restaurant managers down the hill we've been to, this one did not greet us at all. It was just a brief look and disappeared into whatever he was doing. I overheard the large party next to us mention he was the manager when he was passing by after asking him for a few items when their waitress was not available. You would think that after overriding the check twice, the manager would actually stop by our table to personally check if everything was okay for one last time. Nope. Oh, well.
If you've watched the Big Bang Theory and know the characters Howard and Bernadette, our waitress was Bernadette.
So, poor customer service. No tip. But maybe here's a couple: 1.) Don't lie, don't take advantage. Especially when the customer is disabled like my husband was (hard of hearing and with walking cane). Bonus extra info: My husband is going through chemo, and his taste buds were off today, and that's why he barely touched his meal and ended up asking for a to-go box. 2.) Missed opportunity for the manager to correct the wrongdoing of one of his team members.
I used to be a waitress for 5 years. I know how hard it is, but I always treat my customers like they matter. I am always upfront with prices, especially since we are trained to sell/promote extra sides like an extra scoop of ice...
Read moreOnce again I find myself at the end of a long drive, a sore back, and a hunger for a hot meal and cool drink. I ask Google for an idea on how to slake my desire for something to eat and feel a little like myself after the long haul down the 15 Fwy. OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE says Google and so I stop by and wander in for some good food from down under. As my three other friends and I walk in, we ask for a table. 20 minutes please wait outside. It's Covid times and we agree outside is the best place to wait. I also notice the bar is open and ask for a beer. I take a seat and find one for my friend and then....BAM! NO, YOU CAN NOT SIT HERE! I ask for just a beer and I will leave to wait outside, but she replies in her most loudest voice, YES, YOU MAY SIT OUTSIDE WITH A BEER AND DRINK IT OUTSIDE! We pay and leave to wait outside. I notice on the way out as we do the walk of shame... everyone in here is of a certain color skin tone and I do not have it. It's one thing to ask me politely and with dignity and respect, but what the bartender did is quite disconcerting, disrespectful, rude and degrading.. I felt like this in the Southern states many years ago when going into a McDonald's restaurant. But I didn't think it would happen here in Victorville, CA. So we are given a table outside and given a menu and place our order. I must say, please be patient with each other during these stressful times and take care when coming here, they might not like you sitting...
Read moreHORRIBLE ! I ordered two lobster tails to go on the side of my order which I NEVER received! So I called the store the same night it was nothing they could do about it because “the kitchen was closed” which I had just left 10 minutes prior and that a manager would call me!
