Kolache Factory — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

A word of caution, don't use the online ordering. We ordered an assortment of fruit and a few different egg kolache and the only pickup time available was 1:24 pm(an hour after I placed the order.) We showed up at around 1:25 and no one said a word to us when we walked in. There was someone helping the other customer that was there, and after a few minutes someone came over to help me. When I told her I was there to pick up my online order she said "Uhhh.....gimme 10 minutes." I sat down, pretty annoyed that they had a whole hour to put our order together. She then told us that they were out of a couple varieties that we ordered. Again....that shouldn't be the case because we had placed our order an HOUR ago. We waited while our order was packed and she asked if we wanted the egg kolache heated. We said yes and she put the kolache in the microwave and walked away. A few minutes later another employee brought over our fruit kolache and asked if we were waiting for something else. We told him that our other box was heating up. He looked inside a couple of microwaves and then found ours in the third....not heated. It seems the other employee put them in and didn't heat them. The whole experience really left a bad taste in our mouth. I will say, while the egg kolache were mediocre, the fruit ones are outstanding. There definitely needs to be training in place and a manager on site....or if there was a manager there needs to be a better one. Everyone seemed to be in no hurry to do anything and no one seemed to know...

So it was easy to find and they have a drive through. I ordered 3 different danishes and two Kolaches. The kolaches were both sausage and jalapeno. The man working asked if I wanted them heated I didnt know that was even an option but it sounded nice so I said sure. While waiting I ordered a coffee. So once I bite into the kolache on the way home (I just couldnt wait,) I realized it was pretty cold and obviously not heated. The middle of the Kolache the "sausage" was literally a hot dog. Once home to my boyfriend I felt all the pastries hoping they would at least be fresh warm and yummy for my boyfriend... nope. All cold and hard except for the two strawberry ones which I heard them say they were going to grab them from the back and noticed there werent any more strawberry in the display case.. too bad they all couldnt have been warm and fresh, or even just warm like that incompetent cashier had said he would do. The danishes were good though just a little stale. Their coffee flavors are really interesting and I would even consider buying coffee grounds if they sell them. The only reason I give even 3 stars is the coffee and the other kolaches looked pretty good. I would just steer clear of the "sausage and jalapeno " and try to order danishes that are low cause chances are you will at least get a couple fresh ones.. or go soon after they open, even though a couple danishes did seem like they were a...

I’m confused that there are bad reviews? We go here almost every other weekend and have never had a bad experience. We’ve probably been over 20 times now. We’ve ordered inside and online pickup but mostly just wait in the drive thru. We see a lot of the same employees that all seem very nice to me. You do have to get there early because they do run out, it’s a popular place but that’s not a problem for us. Everything is delicious, we definitely have favorites but I don’t think we’ve ever been disappointed. There’s a been a few times that the rolls were a little less filled than we wanted but not enough to complain about especially for the price.

So for the people saying it’s not worth, I don’t understand, they are very cheap, so of course it’s not going to be stuffed to the max, they probably wouldn’t cook right if they were too full. fruit ones are like $2 and meats are $3-4 sometimes $5 for the fancy ones.

If you’re on the fence you should definitely try it. I recommend pepperoni, sausage/egg/cheese, and sausage/gravy. If you order online you can get the poppyseed one which is like a sweet nutty flavor and very delicious. Also please make the cheeseburger one year round! It’s our absolute...
