Do not attend a class. Save your money. We attended a baking class at Macaroon Tart to learn how to make French eclairs and some French cookies. The 2 hour class was 120 dollars a person and this would not be an issue if the class was beneficial, but it was far from that.
First, the class began with no explanation of the techniques or type of dough we were going to make. There was no example of a finished product to reference, but worseā¦no recipe to follow. We were told we would get the recipe but never did. After the class the owner/instructor looked for a recipe but could not find it and told us she would text it to us later. Havenāt received it yet. Also, the class ended up being less than 1.5 hours and we were quickly rushed out.
Second, she left the class at least eight times to help customers coming in and left us in the class to wait on her or just guess what to do next. If holding a class , someone else should manage customers. Student are there to learn and be taught. She spent more time helping customers than in the class.
Then, the class only had four students, so should have been a great small group to work with and get more focused attention. This did not happen. The set up was only set for two work stations. We had to take turns preparing the pastry. Each paying student should have their own items and have an opportunity to do everything from start to finish, not only half. I even had to go find my own knife and spatula at one point. Even worse, near the end of the class we were supposed to dip our eclair tops in chocolate. We were waiting for her to return in order to do so. She quickly comes and makes a ganache (not a good one either, it was not mixed and way too liquify and fell right off the eclairs), she doesnāt even explain what she is making is a ganache or give measurements. Thankfully I know what a ganache is and that was what she was trying to make. The she puts the ganache still in the hot double boiler on the workstation that I am not at and leaves again. Iām thinking she is going to come back and make more or give us some chocolate and cream to make a batch for our station, but she does not. We waiting for a for her for awhile before I decided to take my and my workstation partners pastries to the other work station and shared their chocolate with them in order to dip our eclairs.
During the piping of the eclair dough onto the pan, my workstation partner and I run out of room on the pan. So I go get another pan and parchment paper and finish piping our dough (again she is not in the class when this happens). Upon her return she comes to our work station and tells us we are not allowed to do that and that we only paid for a class to make enough for one pan. She makes us scrap the dough from the other pan and combined it with the already formed pastries from the first pan. So needless to say our pastries were not uniform in size and were ugly. I donāt understand why she did that as she was not opposed to us using all the dough, she just didnāt want us to make more than what fit in one pan.
Lastly, she was rude. During the beginning of the class when she demonstrated piping, one of the students got close to her workbench to see what she was doing (mind you the student was a 10 year old little girl excited to learn how to bake) and the owner told the little girl yo back up and go back to her area. It was not easy to see what she was doing.
When it was time to put our pastries in the oven, she told us to go wait out in the lobby. We were not offered anything to drink or eat. Then I witnessed her being rude to a customer. A customer asked for caramel tart, and specifically asked for the second tart (there were only 4 tarts so itās not like she had to dig for it) she told the customer no he could not choose the one he wanted and just had to take the one he was given. The customer was taken back and said nevermind then, that he didnāt want anything. He was not rude, but she proceeded to be rude more.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreMost awkward experience and we didn't like even one of the things we ordered. And for the record, I know good pastry, I lived in Europe for four years. I was debating if I should write this or not but I can't get it out of my head. Then I looked up other reviews and saw other bad experiences and thought I'd add ours.
So my daughter and I decided to try this place on a girls day out since she has never had a macaron before. What a disappointment for her. We had walked past on our way to lunch and the place looked empty. On our way back it was packed and I just assumed it was very popular. As we walked in the entire room went completely silent and everyone turned to stare at us. Every table was full with young girls and it was clear we were interrupting. We froze and in a bit of a panic I started apologizing profusely to the only adult person, a woman, in the room. I'm assuming she was the owner? She was sitting near the door and started to tell us not to worry, that her class was eating lunch, and we could come order. I said no thank you and just wanted to leave but she was adamant that we come order. Not wanting to rock the boat any further we walked to the counter with everyone staring and ordered. There were only 4 flavors of macarons which was kind of weird to me since the literal name is Macaron Tart. We only ordered three of the flavors and also got an apple tart and a lemon tart. We took them home where we tried them with my husband and son. None of us liked anything we tried, like things got spit into the garbage. Such a waste given everything was so expensive! Which I would have understood if it was actually edible. Very disappointed. Will definitely not be going back. Hope this post helps other from wasting their...
Ā Ā Ā Read more4 stars and here's why - I love food. I adore deserts. So everyone who follows me know i travel lot of places to try diferent handcrafted unique delight cute items lol . I got in the man said hello he's was running like a headless chicken 3 tables inside 6 people total and me . Everyone was fine sited and all . I took about 5 minutes to take my order. Cause he was alone. runnign 3 tables I guess the owner (chef) who's pregnant was on the back doing šŖ (Looked like that) . Ok so for service 0.5 the macarons I got the package of 6 cause I just wanted to try exclusively the macarons. So I got . Lemon, chocolate ,strawberry, vanilla, peach (I think) almond. And the inside its like a marmalade with its delicate and elegant plus delicious. The feet (of the macaroons) where perfection. Flavor color and SMELL WOW THE AROMA WAS AMAZING 3.0 score for food . The -1 š was on the use of sanitation (The gloves the person serving us ) he touches my credit card , the macaroon, the trays of the other people , his jeans and other utencils. So I was kind of hoping he would use some king of instrument or wrapping to pick up the macarons. It felt unhygienic for me. So this score is 0.5Thats all. Pretty much summary its come here cause it's very good prices are hight but I guess flavor compensate. It's not for me to visit again. But I recommend the macarons. The latte its $4.00 I'm not paying that sorry š. And 12 macarrons are 35 after tax . 6 macaroons 17 after taxes. Have a great week. Happy...
