The experience here was terrible. The one star is only given because there is no lower option. I arrived about 9:50 pm with 3 other people. We decided to go to Quircks in Town Center to have a drink in celebration of a birthday. We sat ourselves at a table. Moments later we noticed a person (who only would tell us they were the bar manager) approaching our table. They said we could MAYBE order ONE round of drinks and walked away. It was such a cold unwelcoming encounter. However, at first we thought maybe the restaurant was closing early. (The posted hours were 11pm) But as we looked around, we saw plenty of tables (all same size or larger in party) enjoying their food and drinks and still ordering. One particular table arrived right before us and was sitting but had not ordered anything yet. We then notice a waiter approach that table and begin to take orders of food and drinks for the table of four. We began to talk about this amongst ourselves for several minutes and wonder what was going on. Mind you the “Bar Manager” still had not re-approached our table to take our order for our One round of drinks he said we were allowed to get. So that became more frustrating. We were wondering why he was taking so long to come back over if he was in such a hurry for us to leave. We then waived him down to come to our table. I asked what time the restaurant closed. He said 11pm. Then I asked why were we told we could only order one round of drinks but the table next to us was still currently ordering as I was questioning him. He then told us that they take the last table at 10pm. I look down at my watch and it was 9:59pm. I light my watch to show him, as did the rest of my table, that it was only 9:59 at that very moment and we had already sat down and been waiting for several minutes. He then began to stutter over his words. He said the other table was allowed to order because they had arrived 15 minutes before us. There’s two issues with that statement. One, it was a lie altogether that they arrived 15 minutes before us and two if that were true, that means the restaurant let a table of four sit there for 15 minutes with no service and not even waters on the table. If the bar manager wants to stick by his story that they were sitting there for 15 minutes with nothing, that’s an issue within itself! I kept pushing him to answer me about the service he had given us thus far and he then lied and said the table that was still ordering was only ordering drinks. I informed him we listened to them order before he even approached and that they all were ordering food and drinks. At that point he said in a snarky voice “we’ll do you want to order something?” I informed him we did not anymore but we would like the manager’s information. He walks away, goes to the waiter that took the for-mentioned tables order, and proceeded to talk about our table. (So unprofessional) Then he printed off some receipts and brought them to other tables. Then he walked back to the bar and was on the register. Then he walked over to the font of the restaurant and rummaged through some menus. All the while, we are getting more angry because he is just walking around doing things instead of getting us the information so we could leave! Members of my party approached him and asked him again for the information. He said he couldn’t find a business card and only gave us a name. Jackie Mackenzie Husk, if are indeed the owner/manager, you have a HORRIBLE bar manager. We were the only black patrons in the restaurant that evening, and to be singled out and treated differently than the white party of four next to us did not feel very good. We left and went to Twist, and received wonderful service and food! They welcomed us and we’re very happy to seat us. Their kitchen was about to close but they still allowed us to order food and drinks. I am happy to say Twist made up for Quircks’ mistakes but Quircks should re-evaluate they way they treat customers. An apology was...
Read moreThe name says it all. This is a cute, quirky little place to chill and have a drink or go on a dinner date. I love the swinging chairs and thought the hooks under the bar in front of your stool to hang your purse or jacket were awesome. They had a cool jukebox that you could use from your phone to play songs you like. Our server Jay made excellent food and drink recommendations and was enjoyable to chat with. The bartender Lauren made us a couple of different drinks, they were all very tasty. She was fun to chat with as well. I loved this place, and the "hang out" vibe. I loved that it was right across from a parking structure. And very close to the Sandler Center for Performing Arts, so you can make a whole enjoyable evening without having to drive everywhere. The only thing I didn't like about Quirks was the restroom. It was the worst-designed bathroom ever. You go in the door into an area with a weird sink that is wavy, like up and down like a roller coaster with several sinks for multiple people to use at the same time, but the shape and placement made it awkward and the whole sink wet all the time. Then straight ahead is another large door. Not like a stall door, like a big door you would open to go into an office or storage room. And it's not marked at all. So when you go in, it's confusing. There are 3 places to wash your hands on this stupid-looking sink, so there has to be at least 2 or 3 toilet stalls after you go through door #2, right? Nope. Door #2 IS the stall. Every woman in line tried the door and was surprised that it was just a toilet stall. It was like you went in the broom closet to go to the bathroom, then when you came out you bumped into someone else going into the broom closet, then you washed your hands at the fancy quirky sink (see what I did there? Lol) at like any of the sinks because only one person can use the toilet but 3 people can wash their hands while waiting, lol. That being said I still LOVED the people...
Read moreMy first time at Quirks anywhere, but my wife has been to another location before. Our server was great and very helpful. You can tell she really knew the menu. We ordered the old bay seasoning wings (as an app), my wife ordered the shredded steak fries and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich.
Wings: 3 out of 5. Seemed light on the seasoning and a few seemed dryer than others. They were still ok, but I could tell a difference. Not bad at all... But just okay. Dirty Buffalo's Old Bay wings are better in my opinion and more flavorful...
Shredded steak fries: 4 out of 5. My wife said they were good again, just as she remembered. I tasted them and thought they were decent, but I don't love garlic that much. But my wife LOVES THEM!
Pork sandwich: 3 out of 5. I REALLY wanted to love this sandwich. Here's what was bad followed by what was good... The shredded park was a bit crispy on the edges... Not burnt, but just a tad bit harder than I'd like. The sandwich felt small. As soon as I picked it up I thought "I'm glad we got the appetizer wings." I felt it was a bit skimpy on the meat. Lastly, I had to ask for more sauce. I appreciate the fact that the sandwich wasn't dripping in sauce, but the sweet barbeque sauce was only applied to the top bun and there wasn't much of it. I asked for more and used almost all of it. THE GOOD: Pineapple bits in the sandwich???? INCREDIBLE!!! Great idea. Jalapeno pickles was perfect as well. I added cheese to mine (no surprise, coming from someone who even adds cheese to cheese!!!🤣🤣🤣). And Quirk's fries...I mean, they weren't earth shattering but they were noticeably different than most fries and I liked them (4 out of 5 on the fries alone).
We do plan to return to try something else. I'd love to give this place a 4 or higher... Maybe 3.5 stars if I could...I feel like today was just maybe a slightly off day regarding the wings and my sandwich. It all looked great though, presented well, and...
