Ruined our Mothers Day Meal. With all restaurants only doing pick up or delivery, we try and support our local business. My family and I will order take out or delivery about two times a week. We prefer using the business's apps or order directly order from the web sites if available. So this leads us to the quagmire that happened today. We woke up this morning and the kids and I decided to surprise mom with her favorite restaurant, yep you guessed it P.F. Chang's. We downloaded the app at 9am and decided to place the "Mothers Day Special for 6". With tip included, was $140.00. Not bad for a nice mothers day meal. I paid with my credit card and set the pick up time for 5:45 pm. With the kids keeping mom busy I was able to leave my house an I arrived a little early (About 5:20pm). When I arrived, it was simply chaos. No organization from the staff among themselves or between the staff and the customers. Initially there was a young woman standing by the door taking names and "checking in people". There was no social distancing at all and it was a crazy just to check in. Once I was able to "check in" I was told that they were at least an hour and a half behind and I should come back. But I have a 5:45pm pick up time I politely told her and her response was that all of the pick up times were delayed. I waited for about an hour when I noticed that people were going inside and coming out with food. Some had pick up times at 330 and even some that was past 6pm... No rhyme or reason. Door Dash folks with a pick up time of ASAP was getting their orders before everyone else. Apparently they would make the orders, put them on the counter inside.... call out the name inside and if no one came, just kept it on the counter. I was able to finagle my way inside and looked for my own order amid the mess inside. I didn't find it on the counter. I got in another line and after 30 minutes or so I was able to speak with someone and I was told that my order would still be 90 minutes. I decided to try and cancel my order. I was then told that only a manager can cancel the order.. after another 20 minutes the manager finally came out and took anyone's name who wanted to cancel their order. I don't know if the P.F Chang APP blocks time slots as well as amount of food requested, or if anyone can select anytime in the future with any amount of food or if the door dash app is on a different server. All I know is that The workers inside were trying their hardest, but there was no organization or forethought on how to successfully complete all of the orders that they knew they would get on mothers day. So I decided to order pizza on the way home and guess what .... It was there...
Read moreI made 6:00pm reservations for 2/26 to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and taken to our seat. In the reservation I had requested a booth and that's exactly what we received. We were seated by the window, facing Virginia Beach Blvd. Perfect!
Our server promptly greeted us and spoke with us about drinks and specials. She was so sweet and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. We decided to get the "Chef's feast for two". (FROM THE MENU) Your choice of a soup or salad, one appetizer to share and one entrée per person. Served with a side of steamed white or brown rice. Upgrade to a side of fried rice or lo mein for an additional charge.
I ordered water and my husband ordered Strawberry limeade. We ordered a salad and egg drop soup to start as well as Steamed Pork Dumplings. Our drinks and starters arrived within minutes. My salad was perfectly dressed and was delicious. The egg drop soup was the perfect temperature and very tasty. We waited approximately 10-15 minutes for the dumplings which was great because we were still eating.
We ordered Mongolian Beef and Chicken Teriyaki both with fried rice. Again, we waited about 15 minutes for our entrees which was perfectly timed because we were just finishing up our other food. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection! My husband finished his and I finished about half of mine. I was stuffed and needed a to-go box. But you get plenty of food! I can't imagine the size of a full entree! It's probably huge!
Our server then asked us which desert we wanted. She explained what was available and gave us her recommendations. We decided on the New York Cheesecake that had a graham cracker crust with fresh berries. (Strawberries and blueberries) We elected to get it to-go because we were both so full!
Our bill with tax came to $81.67. We tipped her $20.00 cash so our total was $101.67. Overall it was a wonderful experience with delicious food. We'll definitely be back!
I highly recommend making a reservation because they typically always busy. Especially in...
Read moreWe went to our local PF Chang's tonight. We did not have a reservation, but we were accommodated at the bar area with high stools and a high table. Corey, our waiter was very attentive. I had asked for a drink that was no longer on the menu. He went to the bartender to see if it could be made and was advised by the bartender it could not be made. That was okay. It was a non-alcoholic drink. The food was exquisite. We had chicken lettuce wraps, hand wrapped deep fried crab wontons, and a big bowl of wonton soup. Dennis ordered a Pinot Grigio, which was very good. I ordered the ginger and Peach hot tea, which was fabulous. The manager, Connor, was doing his rounds and stopped to talk to us. We had a lovely chat about service, what he and I had seen another restaurants, and I brought up the wish that the coconut cooler was back on the menu. Connor advised me that the bartender could make that drink for me. Hummm! Connor proceeded to tell me about a few other drinks that I was not aware of. One drink is called "drink with no name". I got a chuckle out of that title. A few minutes later, the manager came over with a complimentary drink for me, and it is, or should I say, was a drink with no name. Lol! I was stunned and very, very pleased. My husband had mentioned that it was my birthday, so it was perfect timing. I gave Corey my telephone number so he could enter the points for my rewards. The next thing I knew, my check was reduced substantially. I truly don't think I had enough points for that reduction. I think this was the manager intervention, kindness, and thoughtfulness. The waiter and the manager won us back over. We have hardly visited PF Chang's in the last 6 years. We will be a much more frequent patron of PF Chang's in Virginia Beach. I hope the PF Chang's Senior Management is aware of the great service, magnificent food, cleanliness, and kindness of its Virginia...
