First of all, I want to say I left this place with very mixed feelings. It’s a cute and charming spot, and I’m really happy that Virginia Beach has a sushi place like this, it’s definitely not your typical sushi restaurant.

The sushi was delicious, probably the best I’ve had in Virginia Beach, but also the smallest portions I’ve seen in the area.

The drinks were reasonably priced, actually pretty cheap compared to other places. They were simple, but for the price, no complaints.

It was a bit loud inside, but for those who can’t stand it, they also offer outdoor seating.

What really upset us was the service. I was confused why we weren’t seated at some point, even though there were three clean and available tables. Our server with curly hair (I don’t remember her name) never came to check on us. I totally understand it was busy and she was also making drinks, but it felt strange not to get any attention from a server and to have to ask the food runner for a drink. Meanwhile, she had time to chat with some tables outside.

Also, the food took quite a while- about 30 to 40 minutes for just three small sushi sets. We spent around $100 and still left feeling a bit hungry.

Overall, great place, great concept, and delicious food- but there are definitely a few things that need improvement. I’m giving 4 stars (not less) because I know it’s a new business, and I truly believe it will get better as they grow and fix these issues. I’ll be happy to update this review to 5 stars if that happens.

We’ll probably be back if things...

I have really mixed feelings about how to rate them. We arrived and was asked if we wanted the bar or a table. Opting for a table we were seated at the counter looking out the window. Not bad, as it offered great people watching, but I thought we would be given a table.

The atmosphere is cute, upbeat and open. There's a big bar inside and tables inside and out.

What we ordered - Terminator (Tuna) Tataki - I've seen pics on line and what we got didn't look as robust. Still a pretty presentation though. It was an interesting blend of flavors. I thought the ponzu (citrus) flavor was a little overwhelming. That, along with the blend of spices it was seared with, didn't quite hit my palette right.

CA Roll - Classic and fresh.

New Jack Nigiri - we got half salmon and half tuna. The pieces of fish were a generous portion. The Salmon was great and fatty so it almost dissolved in your mouth. But the tuna, really had no flavor to it 😞

Service was okay, people were friendly, but we were never given small plates with our rolls (maybe it's standard?) nor napkins.

I would definitely give it another try as they offered some unique options.

Bathroom: -Clean: Yes -Bonus features: Lotion is offered, there is a little shelf above the TP (perfect in case you need a spot to place say your phone or glasses), a few hooks available -Add'l notes: There is a single use men's and single use women's bathroom. The women's is a good size. I will say the mirror is a bit high, so if you're on the shorter side...

TLDR the place is primarily a bar and overpriced for the amount of food.

Place was extremely busy when I went and they would not let me sit at a two seater table outside because I was by myself at the time. I do understand that they were busy and the fact that the venue already has very limited seating but I’m writing it so others can be informed if they haven’t been here yet. The person they sat me next to at the very small bar by the front window gave me COVID as well, which isn’t on the bar at all just unfortunate circumstance- but understand the place was PACKED. It’s way too small for the number of people they had in there.

The place is also primarily alcoholic drinks, and seems to be more of a bar with snacks than an actual place to eat. The sushi they eventually brought out was barely cold and for four pieces of small nigiri was almost 20 dollars and across the board their sushi choice basically piled down to tuna, salmon, or California rolls. ( again they were VERY busy so this was ultimately poor circumstances).

I was forgotten about for about 20ish minutes or so before I was even given a menu BUT they were busy, I don’t blame them. I had a bad experience because I went there looking to eat a decent amount of sushi but got sub par snack sized nigiri and covid instead.

I can’t give it any higher simply because I haven’t experienced it, and won’t because the first time was so bad and expensive I refuse...

I can’t say much about the atmosphere, but if it’s as good as their food- it’s 5 stars! We got our order delivered- it was at our hotel room within 45 minutes. We tried most of the specialty rolls and some of their sides- the poison ivy being a standout roll and the fried rice being a favorite side. The sandlot salad was a close runner up for sides, the mix of greens and dressing was refreshing and delicious. The cool running cucumber salad was good, but not like the aforementioned. I would order all of these rolls again- blood moon, sunny d, Miami vice, and their California roll! The nigiri was fresh and a great complement to our meal. We appreciated how they labeled our order, making it easy to decipher which roll we were eating. Highly recommend! Look at pictures for rating of individual entrees!

If you're craving an ocean of flavor in Virginia Beach, look no further than SUSHI VICE, the latest tsunami of taste sensations hitting the beach. From the first roll to the last, every bite is a masterpiece, making it the top contender for the best sushi in town. Their Japanese-twist drinks are the perfect complement, with sake selections that'll make your taste buds do a happy dance. Even on a bustling Friday night, the service was as smooth as sashimi, with a team that worked together like a well-oiled sushi machine. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or a raw rookie, SUSHI VICE will sweep you off your feet with its amazing food and unforgettable experience.
