We have been Marriott Bonvoy Members for years and were even an ambassador at one point and are currently platinum elite. We have stayed at many Marriott hotels over the years. We saved up our points for this stay at Virginia Beach. It was 134,000 for two nights. This hotel was in no way worth the points we were charged. There was no air conditioning in the hallways or elevators and it was over 90 degrees and they had us on the top floor. The room air conditioning did not cool the room and it never got cooler than 83 degrees. The shower ran consistently throughout the entire stay and not just a few drops, a steady stream making it very hard to sleep. There was sand in both beds which made the sheets very itchy. The curtains were broke and would not fully open for the “oceanfront” view. One of the lights was also burnt out in the common area. Given the temperature we could not be in the hotel for majority of the stay. We tried to secure lodging somewhere else but giving the proximity to the holiday it was not possible. We were only in the room to “sleep” which we did not get much of due to the conditions in the room. Given how many Marriotts we’ve visited and how long we’ve been members, we were surprised and disappointed by this stay. We don’t usually send complaints but for 134,000 points we expected much better from Marriott. We truly hope that this feedback is addressed for future patrons of this hotel. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the condition of the hotel was not a reflection of them.

This hotel has declined tremendously. The pros is the customer service at the front desk as well as the workers and staff. They are friendly and helpful. With that being said everything else horrible. We are on day 3 of our stay and the pool has been closed for these past 2 days. The air conditioning system is horrible and loud couldnt even sleep. It gets so bad in the middle of the night. Also the gym has no air conditioning and we were here last year and it was not working then so its safe to say its been broken for a year. There is only one of 2 elevators working and the working one broke temporarily too so we had neither for a while. The balconies are small and have been unkept. They are deteriorating. Every balcony has a large annoying vent from the indoor ac and makes the balcony even hotter. The wall under that vent is disgusting and has old water brown drips and streaks and needs a serious cleaning and paint job as it looks rusted. The sliding door to balcony is hard to open with lots of calcium buildup due to non maintenance and the saltwater from the beach. I could go on however i suggest booking at hyatt home instead if you want similar ammenties with better quality. I wish i could get a refund and go stay down the block at hyatt home. Il definitely be booking there next year. We are returning guest and very unsatisfied with the decline of this hotel and still have 3 days left and not enjoying our vacation because of so many things gone wrong at this hotel.

Let's cover the good. The location was nice. It was on the north end of the beach not to far from resturants and other things that are all within a 10 min walk. Now that does mean locations on the south end are a bit aways but it is what it is. The staff seemed friendly and ready to help. Valet was a bit weird because the parked cars right in front of vehicles in a parking spot but they they get your car out fast enough. The pool was very very warm, which I'll take over an ice cold experience but it was humid and highly chlorinated. The hot tub was running around 104° the whole time. Now for the rough, the room. The view was awesome and we were ok the 2nd floor so we had a big balcony. You had to be careful bc the ac unit was leaking mad bad outside and left a slippery puddle by the door. Also there aas crazy condensation in the living room area and the floor in the bedroom was soaked from the ac units closet. Temperature control was a pain, always seeming like an adjustment was needed to keep the room comfortable. Thw sliding doors for the shower also left puddles on the track which was weird. Tight shower in the tub. Worse part was the spiders and small bug we found in the pull put sofa. I was hoping a change in sheets would solve the problem, but checking my daughter's hair when we got home said otherwise. Overall if my experience was a one off, then it's a pretty solid place to stay, but I'm not sure if this will be our first choice when we return to VA beach

This hotel was okay but I would not stay at this hotel again.

Firstly the room had a musky smell and my allergies were really terrible inside the room. My nose ran the entire time every time I would step inside that room not sure if they just didn’t clean the air filter or what was going on, but I was not happy with that. Every time I would turn the heat on, I would start sneezing immediately. I did bring my animals with me which was my dog and my cat so maybe this was a buildup of past previous animals or something I’m not sure. I don’t have an allergy to any animals so I know it wasn’t my animals that I was sneezing about. I opened the door to the balcony, and that helped freshen the room up, but I would have to do this daily to keep fresh air in the room so I wouldn’t sneeze the entire time and my nose would literally drip inside the room.

Secondly, breakfast was hot and was pretty good. I was there for three days and during my three days no one said anything about me coming downstairs with my dog on a leash to just grab my plate and leave the food area but the last day I was there this lady from the kitchen got really rude and smart with me telling me I couldn’t have my dog in there. and it’s fine if that’s a rule, but there are no signs anywhere stating that you cannot bring your dog to that area on a leash to get a plate of food and then leave. There’s literally no signs stating that you cannot have a dog in there.

Thirdly I was in room 902 and the view from this room is beautiful! Beyond words and you can hear the ocean from the room and the sunrise and sunset is just gorgeous. Also, from the bed if you’re laying down, there’s a large window right next to it so you can just lay in bed and watch the ocean.

Fourth I did like that the room had a nice refrigerator. The stove top worked, the microwave worked, and there was a good amount of dishes and supplies in the room for me to use.

Fifth the bathroom was very accommodating, and I liked the shower. The balcony is nice, but you have to be careful where you are sitting because water will drip from the balcony above onto your balcony so be careful to place your chairs away from where the air unit location is otherwise, you will get drenched with water.

Sixth The cleanliness of the hotel was nice and I did see that there was cleaning people walking around and cleaning stuff. The gym looks like it was clean. The pool area didn’t look too clean to me so I did not get in that area. The Internet is extremely slow, slow slow, so if you’re there for work be prepared for that. Thankfully, I had a hotspot so I was able to do my work.

Seventh the bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were feather, and they were very fluffy, and I slept quite well on the bed.

Lastly, I hadn’t had a problem any of my days with valet parking. On the last day of my stay I checked out early and needed my car to be brought to me so I could go to work, and I was almost late and thankfully the only person that would help me was definitely not the woman at the front desk who was extremely rude, but this girl named Jamaica is the only person that would help me and she actually went to get my car for me so I wasn’t late to work. Thank God for Jamaica because I had to go to the house that I rented in this area for my job and then make it to Chesapeake which was a half an hour away. Whoever this lady was at the front desk, due to her behavior and lack of care, I definitely would not stay at this hotel. She kept telling me over and over again that there wasn’t anyone there to help me, and that she couldn’t help me and no one was there to help me and she was just sorry because valet called out sick. I also told the woman at the front desk to have management call me so I can discuss her behavior and guess what no Manager ever called me.

The parking lot is extremely small so you will definitely have to have your car parked by valet but be careful because they will literally hold your car for hostage and then tell you sorry they can’t go get your even if you’re about to be...

If you want a relaxing trip, don’t stay here. This place will break you down with a bunch of minor inconveniences that really add up. The staff are very kind, the location is great, and being able to bring my dog was a perk. BUT, breakfast opened late most mornings and the waffle irons were broken one morning. Dogs are allowed on the breakfast area which can lead to a very unpleasant and loud morning meal if owners can’t keep their dogs under control. My keycard lost access to my room and the building several times. I was at the front desk more than ten times to have them reset and I was not the only guest with this problem. The checkin process is hectic as parking is scarce so everyone pulls their cars to the front doors to unload and then have their vehicles valeted in a parking garage way down the street. So you get stuck in a long line waiting for luggage carts and access to the front door. And if you’re trying to get out of the parking lot during this mess, it’s not going to happen. Unless you get lucky and get one of the few parking spaces in front of the hotel, you will not have immediate access to your vehicle. Sometimes the valet will park cars behind those already parked in the lot, blocking them in until they feel like taking the car down the street. There are also very long waits for the elevators as hotel staff are also using them to move linens and cleaning carts - there appear to be no service elevators for staff, but they are accommodating to guests often letting guests take the elevator ahead of them. The hotel does not have its own line service - rather their linens are delivered on a truck. One the first night, they did not have any extra towels, pillows, or blankets because the truck was late. I had to use my beach towel as a blanket and was freezing the whole night. Additionally, the key reader to one of our rooms went dead and we waited for four hours for someone to fix it. My grandparents were in that room and need our help often, so this would have been a disaster in an emergency situation. Moreover, someone had to stay in the room for the four hours so others could get in and out, taking half of one of our beach days. I asked to speak to a manager over this situation, as this was the last straw in terms of my patience for the hotel’s inconveniences. Not only was he late for his shift and unavailable the rest of the day due to “meetings,” he failed to call me even though I requested that he do so. I do not recommend this place and will not be staying there again even though we visit the area twice a year or more. Do yourself a favor and check out other hotels along...

Every Marriot Property in VB has location and a view. Its hard to give much credit for location and view when so much else is dysfunctional. We wanted to like this place. The kitchen facilities were desired. Good thing, breakfast is bad. Been coming to VB for nearly 20 years and are vacation owners with Marriot. Looking for other options for our next VB stay. Check-in was a traffic jam in the tiny lot. Upon arriving to the front desk, it took an unusually long time to check-in. No discernable reason. Check-in person may have had trouble navigating the check-in system. Another check-in person got involved to move things along. As long-time members, our status was never recognized, nor was our welcome gift offered. This has never happened before. The room had some issues followed by lack of service. There was hair on a towel and the glass door to the balcony was not clean. We let those go. We called to ask if we could get a tea kettle, the answer was no. No attempt to accommodate. Considering the $$$ per night, seems a poor response to such a small item. Some room design elements poorly considered. Kitchen lighting dim and no light over the sink. The tiny balcony made us a target for the furnace like exhaust from the AC unit vent positioned at seating level. The kitchen light was flickering. Called mid-day for the light, no-show. Called again 2nd day. Maintenance then came to pull out a broken light cover and replace the flickering bulb. We asked for a replacement TV remote as only one worked. We’re told, none available. The tight, first floor lobby and surrounding areas need careful navigation. The parking situation is horrendous. Cars were lined up around drive-through areas, day, and night. Not enough valet staff for the situation. Offsite parking three blocks away and just adds to the mess and inconvenience. I did not want to hand my keys over to be involved in this chaos. Ended up with a door dent during our stay anyway. I see an empty lot right across the street. Seeing other reviews now, its clear the parking issue is long standing. Apparently, this property's management has contempt towards its guests, or they would try harder to remedy the parking mess and be better supplied to meet basic needs. Need more evidence? I received an email from the front desk a week ago and well ahead of this survey link. Odd? I responded in like manner and in more detail. I have yet to be contacted by anyone. They just don't care about...
