September 9th, Our 2nd night eating here. The Food was fantastic again! BUT, The Bartender M_____a ruined the night. She decided to lecture my wife about a $6 hamburger we ordered in addition to our $170 of seafood and drinks. She had told my wife earlier in the night that she was not allowed to box a hamburger and take it home and that you have to eat it here. She added “the only way you can take a hamburger home is if you eat a significant amount”. After my wife ate a few bites, she was full. After all we already at dozens of oysters. The other bartender “James” happened to be at our end of the bar and she asked James if she ate enough to be able to take it home. He said sure. So James let Miranda know to give us a box. This frustrated Miranda and she came over with a plastic container and as she handed it to her she began to lecture my wife in in front of the other customers and it was very embarrassing. She said quote: "Here's the box for your hamburger, but the next time someone tells you no, you should listen".. I stopped her in her tracks to not lecture my wife over a hamburger. Between Wednesday night and Friday night, I have receipts for over $300 in food, and here she is deciding to break our balls over a $7 hamburger. We asked for a box after she at as much as she could, and we explained to James said we ate enough and gave us a box. (By the way the lid to the plastic container did not fit. They were for two different containers. When she brought the container and lid she said, "here's a container and I don't know what's wrong with the lid". I talked to the manager Vincent. I hope he has a talk with Miranda and I hope she does not try to blame hamburger-gate on James. One last thing. The Udon Noodles we ordered on Wednesday was seasoned to perfection. The Udon noodles we ordered on Friday night tasted very different. They were not seasoned the same. Seasoning was very light and not as flavorful. I think that means someone different made from the last time. I guess that means a recipe is not being followed and folks are just making it there own way. So wont be consistent.
September 7th, 5 STARS First restaurant where everything I tried as amazing. We sat at the bar for happy hour. Every aspect of this establishment was a great time. The food, specialty drinks, valet parking, bartenders, managers, and new new ice back man. I meant to name names here but I lost my receipt and I can only remember one of the lady bartenders named (sounds like) Brie. (bree). But both bartenders were equally amazing. Number one they made us feel important and respected. Number 2 the drinks they presented were consistent and delicious. I also had a Buffalo Trace bourbon, neat, which is a hard to find alcohol. For the food we orders raw oysters, and other than raw. In other words we tried everyone they make. It was only $1 a oyster for happy hour! THEY WERE FANTASTIC. Then we ordered the whole fish which we devoured with chop sticks. (Maybe they would upgrade their chop sticks to other than throw away. Something easier on the lips instead of the rough wood feeling). The UDON noodles were so good as well, we ordered another one to go. The patrons were fun as well. Even the two young 21 year old's next to us at the bar, one celebrating her 21st birthday today. . Even when he had a few drinks and started accidently elbowing me in my kidneys, I was too busy enjoying my food to care much. Just scooted down a couple more inches to let them have their fun. Spoke to the manager about how much we were liking the food and he seemed to be very appreciative. I showed my final appreciation by leaving a generous tip.
Thanks for the...
Read moreI'm a chef & well traveled foodie who thrives on quality food, creative pairings, memorable experiences. I adore a great happy hour. New & clueless to Va Beach, I tried many on my own, via Google maps searches. They were adequate but just meh. My only native friend suggested we meet at ATLANTIC on PACIFIC… Surprisingly it checked all my boxes & made me a regular! Their #HappyHour is unmatched, with quality offerings, drinks too!
HH DRINKS: Their $6 old-fashioned is OTC for an old classic, complete with Luxardo Italian cherries! And yes, I said SIX DOLLARS! 😍 If you prefer contemporary craft cocktails, they generously have more than a dozen top shelf libations. I’ve found in my limited time here, this sets them apart from the typical offerings of others (beer, wine, a margarita) 🥱!
HH MENU: If you like shellfish, they have many for HH & I ❤️their oysters! Make sure you try the oysters Chesepeake, spicy chili, or bacon parm. My personal fave: chorizo with manchego!💥 A dbl patty cheeseburger & fries is both filling and a HH staple, also for just $6!
PRO-TIP: A career in fine dining gives me elevated expectations & a more critical eye than most. I abhor mediocre service & substandard food, even when balls to wall busy. The details matter and I’ve never been disappointed here… These things make ATLANTIC on PACIFIC understandably popular from 3-6 PM. The only CON is the high table demand and noise level from 4 to 7 PM
HH IS BUSY: I now live on the beach, a block away, and have learned to slip in there at 3-ish during the week or anytime on cloudy or rainy weekends. No wait at then but it is crowded & often loud at peak times. But hey, this is the beach and Neptune Park, (the colossal, King Neptune, bronze sculpture, in fabulous detail) is a 4 minute walk so do some exploring if you have a wait for happy hour!
PARKING: usually a pain in the ass at the 🏖️, but their valet lot is just steps from the entrance or you can park in the free garage one block away.
**Just 2 days ago I brought my elderly, old-fashioned loving, aunt in & our experience was above & beyond. Our server, Marcuswas exceptional, helpful, & friendly w/ spot on suggestions that hit home. He deserves a shout out! 🙏 Thanks Marcus 🫶 2 cocktails and an oyster combo platter (or double cheesebu allows a great time for just $20 before tip Update: just rec Marcus ad the regular menu. The baked scallops were fantastic, often overcooked at other places.
The mussels are in a traditionally classic wine broth, simple to prepare, but...
Read moreThe Atlantic on Pacific is located on the corner of Pacific Ave. and 30th Street at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Parking is available on the south side of the building, where I almost missed it. That parking is at the corner of Pacific Ave. and 30th Street. My visit here was for a work holiday luncheon on December 15, 2021.
Coming here for our luncheon was recommended by others in our group at work. This was my first time here and I am always up for trying something new to me. After getting parked, I went inside, and one of the others I know at work was there already, so I went over to the table. The server was quick to come over and ask what I wanted to drink.
After a few more minutes, the rest of the party was here. Once everyone was settled in and got their drink orders in, we all talked about different appetizers to try out. In the end, we got several different appetizers as a group. The appetizers were the Ham and Pimento Sweet Potato Biscuits, Virginia Blue Crab Hushpuppies, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, and the Shrimp, Scallop and Pork Dumplings. I am not a fan of Brussel sprouts, so that was the only appetizer item I didn't try. All of the other appetizers I tried out were really good, and my favorite of the ones I tried were the Virginia Blue Crab Hushpuppies (it's not hard to get addicted to them).
After we had started on the appetizers, our server came over asking if we were all ready to order our entrées. I decided to go with the Lobster Mac & Cheese. After about ten minutes or so after ordering, our entrées came to the table. It took a few moments of course since we had a nice size group, but we almost had the place to ourselves. For me, the Lobster Mac & Cheese was creamy and really good. Looks can be deceiving as it was bigger than it initially looked.
Overall, the food and service were great. Even though the menu is pretty small, there does seem to be something for everyone there. With great food and service, I totally recommend coming here, so if you're looking for something to eat at the oceanfront, you should definitely consider checking...
