Good read but somewhat long.

If you’re looking to stay here I have never wrote a review on a hotel but I’m giving some feedback. We are a family with young children. Staying here is a little indifferent in my opinion. Here’s the positive: The positive with the young kids especially it has amazing amenities. Our fridge in our room works great allowing her milk to stay cool and bringing food to store has been such a money saver. The pool being indoors since we are here now and it’s raining today made it good since we had to leave the beach being too cool. The restaurant had alright food although we couldn’t get seafood at an earlier dinner time since the cookers were being used for catering. The boardwalk is right here though, the gift shops are close (right across street), and the service so far for us has been wonderful! The view from our room on 6th floor is amazing. Waking yo to see the ocean everyday is exactly what I wanted.

The negative: With that said we have a young child who requires some food reheated and there was no microwave which we knew coming in. The beds are not the most comfortable and I would recommend bringing another blanket or leaving the ac off. It gets cooler but nothing a sweatshirt and warmer pajamas couldn’t fix. Also we had both had a bite on us this morning and switched to their extra blanket. They have bed bug protectors on the bed. It makes me a little nervous. Although we are spending time outdoors so unsure what’s to blame. The food was good but like everything else right now it’s overpriced for kids meals and regular meals. The bathroom tub seemed a little unkept and naturally the floors have sand…but it’s a beach.

Overall I would say if you have younger kids and are looking for that family getaway or to feel the upmost comfortable I would spend a little more and try another hotel but I can tell they are trying here and it’s nice for what they can do. The service was great but the bites make me question if it’s worth it again. Just trying a review to help anyone unsure like us about trying a small business over an overpriced hotel chain! Our vacation so far hasn’t been too bad...

The room was disgusting and the patio was covered with hundreds of biting gnats. There were biting gnats inside the room, and I was told there was nothing that I could do about it and just to keep the patio closed. It was clear there wouldn't be any help from the staff from the beginning. There was hair on top of one bed, and underneath the cover. There was hair on the bathtub, and a clump of hair and dirt in the bathroom floor. The toilet seat was old and damaged. Dirt and debris were on the floor, under the sink, and around the edge of the mattress. The fridge wouldn't get cold, and smelled horrible, so I had to turn it off and couldn't use it the entire trip. The third night we were there, ROACHES were running around in the floor! The staff was not helpful, not friendly, and didn't smile or say hello when they looked at you in the hallways. I was told housekeeping would not be coming into the rooms for our stay. So, I had to clean the entire room and sanitize it myself. It looked MUCH better when we left than when we arrived! After being sent an email stating that only one family per elevator ride was allowed - staff even jumped into the elevator with us. Signs were posted for "quiet time" from 10pm to 8am, but we had a group of people stand outside our room and talk & laugh very loudly from 10:15 until 11:20pm - and one person was a male worker at the hotel. The fire alarm went off FIVE times in two days during our stay. We had to race down the stairs to make sure we weren't going to be caught in a fire. Unfortunately, there was also a man playing BONGO DRUMS on the boardwalk outside of our room several nights. He was allowed to play until 12am! There were obvious stains and signs of leaks in the hotel ceiling and the tiles had not been replaced. The hotel is old, dank, and the patio looked molded. The photos on the website are very misleading and most of the staff are not welcoming, smiling, or happy at any time. We passed a room that was being "cleaned" with the door open and the staff person was sneezing and coughing loudly - but still allowed to clean rooms. The online reviews & hotel website photos are...

YES!!! Currently a guest here. We have stayed at several oceanfront hotels at va beach, and this has been my favorite so far.. I do have another favorite that is just as good but the price for oceanfront inn makes it better than the other! Great price, well worth it. I was skeptical of the price considering current prices of other hotels, only to find a pleasant surprise seeing how nice this place is for the price. Oceanfront, clean, friendly staff! I WILL be coming back! Oh, not to mention I had an issue with payment method and length of stay when I made reservations, which was totally my fault. Not a problem. They helped me resolve issue when I checked in with payment method as well as helped me extend my reservation when I called and explained that I messed up my reservation. I appreciate the staff members so much for their patience and assistance. Thank you for a great stay, oceanfront inn!! You're making it very hard to go back home. Lol. Again, thank you so much from my family to all of the staff! -From Ohio P.s. if anyone gives this hotel anything less than 4 stars it's either bc they expected a condo or tried to pull a fast one on staff and are mad they didn't get their way Seriously, I paid basically $150 per night when a 3 star hotel I like is charging over $200 per night before tax and this place is just as nice! This place is well worth the 5 star rating I gave! I would not be giving 5 stars if it wasn't worth it. I base my ratings on cleanliness, staff, actual place itself, and affordability. Based on all of that and what I paid it deserves 5 stars. I just saw a review for 2 stars and 1 star. No! It is not either of those! I would recommend this hotel for anyone trying to have a nice vacation and not spend $1000 + tax on 5 nights! I spent well under $1000 after tax and couldn't be more more happy! I always take time to check reviews before booking anywhere, believe me this...

We stayed in this hotel for a getaway on the 4th of July weekend. I knew was not going be a resort but the pictures show nice rooms and the location was perfect. Well, the location was perfect but the hotel is more like a motel. Pros: Perfect location, close to everything. The people at the front desk were very nice a professional all the time. The rooms are all ocean view and have nice new floor but that will be all. Cons; Very dated rooms, the furniture very old and warm out, the bathroom has new sink but the toilet is like kids toilet and the shower extremely small, I'm 5'4" and I could easily touch the ceiling that looks like from last century. It wasn't dirty but very, extremely dated. It doesn't have a closet, only hangers in an open space. We stay three nights, had two rooms and we had to call the front desk several times. All the issues were resolved but we didn't need to go through that. The toilet was leaking when we arrived, the shower didn't have curtain, the remote control didn't work, they didn't refresh the room, and when I called around 4pm, they sent someone with clean towels and a broom. Why they didn't refresh my room? Don't know but I was in shock when the guy passed me the broom, lol. The restaurant it's not even worth to talk about, the pregnant waitress was very rude, long wait a food awful, don't even think about going there and the bartender was google how to mix my drink. Bottom line, I won't stay in this hotel again and I don't recommend to anyone, unless your expectations are for a good motel

The only reason I’m giving a 4 star on the room is because it needs a microwave but aside from that our stay was absolutely perfect. I saw other reviews who gave low ratings because of “dated” decor, but honestly, we appreciated the fact that as an independently owned hotel, they chose to put their focus on things like customer service, comfortable beds, pillows, and cleanliness rather than aesthetics. Sure, it’s dated, but there wasn’t a speck of dirt or dust in the room, including on the tiled baseboards in the bathroom corners. It both looked and smelled clean. Our stay was just for one night but they provided plenty of amenities, towels, wash cloths, where the usual corporate run hotels only supply two towels, two wash clothes and only enough shampoo and conditioner for one person, so I definitely found the fact that there was enough of both for both of us a plus!! View from the balcony was STUNNING and the location to the beach and restaurants couldn’t be better, especially for the price. But the shining stars here were the staff. I’ve never been treated more kindly. Every single desk person interacted with us and were super friendly. I’d be back just for that. Not only would I stay here again, I’d also recommend that hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant stay at a fantastic location at a really good price.

The Oceanfront Inn , Virginia Beach is a family owned and operated hotel on the boardwalk, oceanfront on 29th Ave. I believe…Rates are extremely fair, rooms are clean, people are nice and make you feel welcomed. All rooms seem to be oceanfront with a few rooms on the side, still with a good ocean view. Compared to chain hotels their rates, hospitality, accommodations and location cannot be beat. There is parking right in front of the hotel and just across the street so you can park and access your vehicle during your stay easily. The upper streets are out of the “riff raff” of the lower streets on the boardwalk in my humble opinion. Situated among high priced hotels this is a gem location and comfortable place to stay while visiting the Atlantic ocean. Update: Virginia Beach is close to Northern Virginia for a quick getaway. While visiting I saw signs of the pandemic, or maybe it’s normal unfortunately to see homeless people sleeping on the boardwalk. I actually thought a few had perished calling the front desk to ask about the people sleeping on the boardwalk. The reaction of people stunned me, it seemed normal. Another update: visited in late September 2022. The area has improved thankfully.
