I was going to write a detailed review about how good the atmosphere was, mostly thanks to the live performer.
About how mediocre the food was... the beef stew was more like a beef stew flavor liquid potato broth soup, I'm guessing they forgot to put the thickener in it, and it only had like three or four small chunks of meat in it compared to the 5 lb of potatoes. like I know it's an Irish restaurant, but the potato famine ended almost 2 months ago, it's okay to put a little bit more meat in my bowl.
About how they decided to sit me, and my clearly disabled girlfriend (EDS and hip dysplasia, she just feel like being normal for a moment and didn't want to pull her wheelchair out), at the table furthest from the door, that was dirty.
About how we almost finished our appetizer, and after waiting for him to notice after coming to our table like four more times after we ordered, that we had to remind him to bring our drinks to the table. Or that my disabled girlfriend had to reach over to the table next to us to grab silverware after being handed our appetizer.
Or that he would only come to our table if we flagged him down even though it wasn't busy, his own words.
All that results in that's just never wanting to come back, and leaving him a crappy tip... Lucky he got a tip at all.
But the reason for the one star review, is because either due to the off sour cream my girlfriend got but didn't complain about, or the medium rare hamburger that she never got asked what temp she would like it to be cooked... before we even made it to the tunnel driving back to Newport News, less than a third of the way through a 45 minute drive, she started throwing her guts up and hasn't stopped since.
I have never experienced, or witnessed someone get food poisoning first hand, but with how bad this is, and the fact that her throat is currently bleeding, because after 2 days she still can't even keep clear liquids down, and we are on the verge of going to the hospital for the second time... litigation is being...

Murphy's Irish Pub in Virginia Beach is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is authentically Irish, creating a cozy and welcoming environment that made me feel right at home.
The staff at Murphy's are top-notch – friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing excellent service. They went out of their way to ensure that my visit was enjoyable, offering great recommendations from the menu and always checking in to see if I needed anything.
The food is outstanding! I tried their fish and chips, which were perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the shepherd’s pie, which was hearty and delicious. The menu offers a fantastic variety of traditional Irish dishes and pub favorites, all prepared with great care and attention to detail. The portion sizes are generous, and the quality is exceptional.
Of course, no visit to an Irish pub would be complete without a great selection of drinks, and Murphy's does not disappoint. They have an impressive array of beers on tap, including several Irish brews, and their cocktails are expertly crafted. I particularly enjoyed the perfectly poured Guinness – it tasted just like it does in Ireland!
What really sets Murphy's Irish Pub apart is the live music and entertainment. The talented musicians create a lively and fun atmosphere that adds to the overall experience. It's the perfect place to unwind with friends, enjoy some great music, and have a fantastic meal.
Overall, Murphy's Irish Pub is a must-visit in Virginia Beach. Whether you’re looking for a delicious meal, a great pint, or just a place to relax and enjoy some live music, Murphy's has it all. I can’t...
Read moreThe atmosphere will always be great here if they don't change any decor or music. But the food has gone seriously downhill and so has the service. Backstory: My husband and I had one of our first dates here thirteen plus years ago. I fell in love with the fish and chips and for just about 12 years, about every other month we were here for my fish and chips craving. Moved away about a year and a half ago. So of course when we were passing through, I HAD to have my fish and chips. They've changed the way they make both the fish and the chips. The fish was smaller, not as great of a crisp on the batter, and the "chips" were weird. They were wedges instead of rounds, and not very crispy. Not really sure how to describe them, except that they were no where near the quality that I'd grown to expect from Murphy's. I'm not sure why they changed the way they've been doing something for at least 12 years, but I won't make an effort to go back anymore when we visit family that now lives in VB. The server was hard to track down many times, and it wasn't even busy. And she mixed up our tickets, I actually had to get up to try and find her and ended up asking someone else to correct our checks. It was overall a disappointing ending to a long week visiting family.
Edited to add: I forgot that my husband ordered an oyster appetizer and we never got it. When our main course arrived, he had to go find the server and tell her not to bother with the...
