I have been here before since I moved to walnut creek 3 years ago. the food has been decent and their happy hour menu is a steal since it's the same portions as the regular meals but cheaper. And it's all day long.
Firstly, when I went to pick up the food, there were 2 waitresses passing by the table, and 2 girls managing take out orders. They were all right in front of me. It took one of the girls 6-7 minutes to even address me to see what I needed. I was left standing there not being helped at all. When someone finally did, all she did was hand the bag that was sitting there the entire 6-7 minutes to me. I don't think it takes very long to ask "are you here picking up?" and then hand me a bag in a total of 10 seconds. It took so long that I actually was making eye contact with one of the cooks and even he was looking over to the girls and wondering why it was taking so long. He looked like he wanted to speak up and tell them to help me since I was standing there so long without even being addressed!
I ordered the Orange Chicken and it's very spicy and doesn't taste sweet at all. I don't know if they gave me something else by mistake. We also ordered the Honey Walnut Prawns and the Pan Fried Wontons (4). Those had to be a joke. there was a total of 7 prawns and maybe 4 walnuts. And the Pan Fried Wontons (4) were extremely small and were actually opening up and the wrapper was flapping around. The wontons had to be smaller than 1.5". The Chow Fun was decent, there wasn't much actual chow fun though??? Mostly protein and very small amount of actual noodles. I've never had such poor service or quality of food before. I used to enjoy eating here but I don't think I'll go back again. I'll probably go back to Yan's Chinese Bistro and continue to eat at Dumpling Hours and Dough Zone for noodles and...

Saturday night I was coming to celebrate my girls bday. I showed up and there was a bunch of black and brown people like myself outside trying to get in. For some reason, security was holding the line that I was in the front of and being rude. Said he wasn’t gonna let anyone else in even though a handful of people left. But yet proceeds to let this couple in before me AND his boys in that weren’t even in line nor spending $$$ + a dog! WTH? I spoke to some guy named Chris who said he’s the owner and expressed my frustration but he was useless and I highly doubt he’s the owner. As someone that has worked in the hospitality industry as a bartender/server in the Bay for YEARS, I was sooo disappointed and disgusted in this place. Sooo you want to promote Fri & Sat nights as hip hop night with a DJ but yet NOT let too many black and brown people in? And then hold the line for HELLA long and NOT even let the people standing in line in to come spend $$$? SMH, GOT IT! I never even got inside this establishment and I will NEVER support it. I will also post my review on ALL my social media outlets to warn my followers as well as google, FB, etc. Might even contact the city, police department & fire department because of the safety hazard/violation of this place being sooo TRASH with their cocky/rude unprofessional security guards smh this place will be shut down shortly…MARK MY...
Read moreI haven't been to a worse place to eat in a decade or more matsuri sushi in Vallejo rivals this junk.
Modern China Cafe must be broke based on them falsely advertising what they're selling since both dishes (lettuce wraps and Mango Chicken) were half diced yucca or maybe jicama. Either way it was a flavorless filler vegetable that was obviously there to just fill up the plate. Both of the dishes were practically flavorless. The only flavor came from the sauce which I'd bet money was ketchup. Could be banana sauce, which is just Filipino ketchup. Either way that's it for seasoning. Barley cooked yucca and ketchup for both dishes. Sucked bad.
Honestly the only food that tasted good was the lettuce and the small bone stock hoisin sauce they managed to squeeze out on a dish.
The master chefs in the back nailed the lettuce wrap aesthetic when they served a head of lettuce sliced in half on a plate.
Each time the server showed up his nose was running and he was sucking it back in while we were talking.
After pointing out how terrible everything was the bill came out unaltered. $35 for half an ice burg lettuce, yucca root and some ketchup.
Went to the bathroom and there was no soap and no paper towels. Hope this place goes out of...
